Male rap is in the worst state it’s ever been regardless of streaming or anything else since the pandemic.

Once Lil Baby dropped the ball, nobody else young picked up the torch, especially with NBA’s legal troubles.
Black music can’t reach outside its target audience with the way music is consumed not

If this was 2014 Dlow would be one of the biggest new artist in music

Glorilla would be a megastar

Im not even worried about the non-Black audience.
As far as the Black crowd, nobody has “it” with the Black target audience.

Dlow has songs but doesn't have the personality and releasing twenty 90 second songs last week only devalues them more.

Dlow
Rod Wave
Bigx

All 3 had big years as relatively new artist- I know Rod not new at all

They can only supply what the market demands

Carti is the biggest rapper out

Kim, Foxy, and Nicki (and Lauryn) certainly did sell like the biggest male rappers.

Kim and Foxy never sold like the biggest male rappers. Ouy of that list, Nicki and Lauryn are the only ones and with Lauryn, it was one album.

Kim's debut dropped in 1996, it didn't sell what Pac or Nas was selling. Same with Foxy's debut.

Foxy dropped her sophomore album in 1999. It only went platinum when Juve, Eminem, DMX, Jay Z, and Nas were all double platinum or more. Kim's sophomore dropped in 2000 and she wasn't doing Jay Z, Nelly, Eminem, Dre, Ja Rule, or Ludacris numbers.

Foxy's third album dropped in 2001. She was not doing Jay Z, Nas, Ja Rule, Ludacris, or DMX numbers.

Kim's third album dropped in 2003. She definitely wasn't doing 50 Cent, Jay Z, or Ludacris numbers.

Dlow doesnt have a personality so the songs are bigger than him.

Rod Wave is really a singer

BigX doesnt have to major label push needed.

Carti got the YT ppl because you aint hearing none of his stuff at a Black event.

There is no young male rapper comparable to Glorilla’s run

Pop was gonna be a superstar

:wow:

Plus X and JuiceWorld. All them dying basically erased a generation. Imagine if Kendrick and Cole died or went to prison in 2011 or 2012.

We wouldn’t get the wave of 1000 repetitive women rappers if they were still here.

Those wack NY drill beats never made it out of NYC. Heck one almost derailed Glorilla’s whole career😂🤷🏾‍♂️.

X and Juice never really got past the alternative crowd. They were largely championed by the Rolling Loud/Akademiks crowd that is largely internet/YT.

To have the crown and be “it” as male rapper you gotta have the songs inescapable at Black events.

I feel like Coli posters think in two ways

1. Rappers X, Y, Z weren’t popping like that because me and my circle didn’t listen to them

2. lol that rapper only had a white fanbase

it’s so tiresome

You must not be Black. And it’s about having the whole package that the young male rappers are lacking.

And Rod Wave is huge doing arena tours but the reality is he’s more like a Nate Dogg because he’s really a singer.

3. Black Coli posters telling other black Coli posters they must not be black because they have a different opinion

:laff:
