The link you posted has no idea what its talking about

Only sources that can be trusted are the ones with access to Nielson Soundscan (Billboard, HDD, Buzzangle, etc.). Along with that, album #s only include on-demand streams, so YouTube doesn't contribute to them. All of that only counts for singles (aka separate from albums).

This is from the first 6 months of 2016 and a majority of HLB's #s came from 2015, meaning it had a minuscule impact in its 2.6 total #s that got it to it's double certification. One Dance, Too Good and Controlla are the real album sellers you're referring to.
Is there even proof that RIAA counts singles that were released before the album?

This dude is acting like he was only talking about definitions now like we can't read his posts.

I refuse to believe you guys are this slow.

Listen, RIAA doesn't use the same metric as Billboard. Billboard uses Soundscan.

If you want to argue Soundscan is more accurate, knock yourself out. But Soundscan is what sold. RIAA awards certifications based on what shipped.

This has nothing to do with Drake, or "Views". That is how it's been since day 1.

Re-read what I said, very carefully:

RIAA.com says "Views" went 2x plat. They count retroactive streams of "Hotline Bling". Ergo, "Hotline Bling" contributed to it going 2x plat. What Soundscan says has literally no bearing on that.

Nielsen SoundScan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Again, and hopefully for the last time....apples and oranges. Even with both sources (Billboard and RIAA) counting streams, they don't use the same system, and have zero overlap.

Fred.
You used RIAA's June 9th date in your post, which holds no weight whatsoever. It's literally certified at any point the record label chooses to certify it. If you hadn't noticed, June 9th is the 6th month of 2016, the last month accounted for in Views 2.6m album equivalent units. By RIAA's metrics, Views is already x3 plat when we include Hotline Bling because the song itself is x5 plat as of January.

RIAA doesn't reveal its exact #s which is why referencing it with nothing else attached is pointless.

I don't know or care what your reason is, it's a Drake song :mjlol:
