Its easy to go into any club in NY and know that everyone likes catchy tunes with repetitive chorus's. However I will agree, that Joe is pretty much a nobody out here, even more so in Cali. It was nice of Em to throw him a bone, but dude can't make a hit to save his life.

I never bought that Joe was "doing this for Hip Hop" or to bring some MC out of Drake.

Drake is doing what he thinks is best for him. Hip Hop doesn't need him to be something he's not. The pop shyt is what he's chosen. We don't need him. So I don't get why Budden would be so invested in the direction that someone else is taking with their music. If Drake wanted to invest in Hip Hop, he would've done so a long time ago. I can't fukk with a dude that needs to be forced into being more Hip Hop. That's not authentic. He's not built like the greats we see as dope MC's. No amount of disses is gonna change that.

If he's not built like the great MC's why is he on Mt. Rushmore with them like he belongs? Why they putting scribes he didn't even write on the cans in honor of the craft?

And let's not just chalk this up to the suits as if Drake is just being marketed as this legacy rap artist against his will, he has very much gone out of his way to vie for rap supremacy in his music...he's even fainted stepping into shyt completely removed from pop-stardom like the battle circuit.

This is why the track is called afraid....his fear of people seeing him as a product instead of an artist have become reality. Joey is giving him the opportunity to validate himself in the eyes of the core fans...

And you can talk that "he ain't Hip Hop" or act like he doesn't care about all that but he does...This isn't a case where he was gonna be content with doing Will Smith numbers but not getting Jay-Z respect for it...he wanted to have his cake and eat it too.
