How does Whitmer win the swing states? Biden might win them regardless but I don't see what Whitmer brings to the table, she won't turn out anybody that wasn't already voting D.

She's basically a younger Hillary Clinton.
:dahell: she was popular enough to win governor of michigan, THE swing state, as a democrat and a woman after michigan voted for trump in 2016

what the fukk? :laff:

ANY Democrat would've won Michigan in 2018 :rudy: or did you forget about that whole Flint water crisis that happened under Rick Snyder?

There's nothing special about Whitmer, people were just sick of Snyder and Republicans.

Nobody in particular, but I'd like somebody that will at least excite the Democratic base a little (since Biden doesn't), and Whitmer ain't it.

There's already a huge enthusiasm gap between Biden and Trump - Are Democrats Cool on Biden?

Biden already has the uncharismatic moderate lane well-covered. I'd like somebody that could at least somewhat appeal to progressives.

:ehh: yeah i hear that

i dont think appealing to progressives is as important as winning the midwest though :yeshrug:

if mike pence was the republican, i would be worried about progressives turning out. if donald trump is the nominee, i'm not :yeshrug:they fukkin hate this guy. they'll be reminded more and more every day closer to november how much they hate this guy

i hate this fukkin guy and im a just-inside left democrat. donald trump stands for everything progressives despise :dead:

Whitmer is a ok choice. However, I’m not convinced she can automatically win the mid west outside of Michigan.

He should pick the best available or the candidate that gives him the best chance to win against Trump whether that person is woman, man, gay, whatever. Pigeonholing the pick a woman sounds crazy condescending to women imo and takes pandering to stupid levels. Even if he decided this was the course of action, he shouldn't have said it publicly.

not sure i agree

a woman is definitely gonna have to break the barrier of being VP first, but she could win off of that in 2024 depending on her visibility

but i think bidens VP is gonna have to win a primary in 2024 :ehh:

Tim Ryan is better for this.

Yeah it was a completely boneheaded move.

Republicans would run crazy ads showing Kamala attacking Biden on racial topics from the 2019 debates. Kamala bae won't turn out a significant extra black male vote for Biden due to previous criticisms against her and because she's with a white man. It sounds messed up to say but that visual will resonate with people. But that's ok because Biden will have enough black male support without her. Black women won't really care that she's with a white man and youth voters, especially young women may be more inspired to turn out because Kamala is a pretty and youthful looking person. Plus she has name recognition and star power that nobody else has besides Amy. (Warren doesn't count because she's not a serious VP contender)

Overall she should be the choice. (Even though my personal choice would be Tammy Duckworth)
