I think the pick will be the obvious choice at this point, which is Kamala.

Too much negative publicity if its not a black woman. That's not the campaign's fault either.

It's kind of Dodd's fault IMO. I honestly think Warren would have gotten a stronger look had he not foolishly overplayed his opposition to Kamala. Kamala's now the path of least resistance - the safe pick.

I think he gonna select Gretchen Whitmer. They keep talking about her. If it was Kamala, he would’ve been announced it.

I see the delay as navel-gazing about Kamala but being between a rock and a hard place as the other black VP options don't have the governing experience (Bass, Demings) or the political experience (Rice - in addition to the baggage).

Nah. Only reason Whitmer is being discussed is because we know exactly where her flight came from and where it went (Delaware). There hasn't been a "LA to Delaware" story because Kamala didn't fly from LA/Cali. We don't have any details. Same with the other candidates. We know charter flights have come from places like South Carolina and Michigan, that's about it.

It's Kamala or Rice, that's obvious. I'm trying not to think too much about this, because if Biden picks Rice it's going to seriously reduce my views on his judgement and fitness. I'll still vote, but if you get the first test dead wrong out the gate, simply because she's the only candidate he is super familiar with...nah. How much did Obama know Biden or Evan Bayh (who was the runner up for VP)? Not much. The person he was most familiar with, and liked the most...was Tim Kaine, who endorsed him early and campaigned with him early. But instead of picking Kaine, he went with the pragmatic pick. Someone he didn't know well, but someone who could help him govern. It's time for Biden to do the same and pick Kamala. End this madness.

Co-sign 100%. Rice as VP is the first sign that Biden's presidency is going to be a :snoop:-inducing mess. Dems snatching defeat from the jaws of victory as they tend to do.

He's 77 years old...any VP he picks is going to overshadow him to a degree. Kamala and Warren were definitely the ones who would do it the most but...who cares. I don't think Biden is that vain. He has to know he is likely picking the 2024 presidential candidate. And how can you select someone who has never won an election in her life (Rice) in that situation? Kamala has won state-wide, twice. That should be a major qualifier, and out of all the women on the list...the only ones that qualify are Harris, Warren, and Whitmer.
I hear you but

Many here seem to think there will be a 2024 contested dem primary regardless

I personally dont see a competitive primary happening

I think there has to be a debate within the party right now if there is or isn't going to be one. If there is going to be one regardless..then it doesnt matter as much that rice didnt win a statewide election. She would have the chance to demonstrate she can run a successful campaign to get the nomination.

If the bigwigs are saying no, we should usher in the VP choice as our nominee in 2024..then its more important for biden to pick someone who has proven they are able to win..otherwise Rice's first election will be a general election for president in a very tumultuous time period
Okay but:

What if Biden wants to run in 2024. Would Kamala step aside? We know Rice probably would.

Itd be beyond audacious for a VP to primary the President. That would not happen. With that said I wouldnt be surprised if Kamala is making her acceptance of the offer conditional on Biden promising not to run again

VP isn’t primarying the president unless something insane happens (major scandal, turmoil etc). That’s not going to happen. If Biden wants to run by all means do so, If he feels he can. But I don’t believe he will.

The Godverse
Susan Rice is an outstandingly stupid pick. Kamala Harris is the logical choice. The GOP has a tough time attacking her, I don't think Trump has a name for her. The worst they can say is she's too ambitious which is weak.
