Gavin Newsom and Cuomo will be heavy challengers in 2024 to win the Dem nomination.

I’m sorry but if Kamala is the VP and later becomes president, there’s no way she loses the 2024 primary barring scandal or a complete Biden admin failure. No way Democrats risk throwing the second black president (and first female president) under the bus unless they have to.

No way Newsom goes against Kamala either. They’re from the same state, and best believe Kamala will have the CA money behind her. If Biden wins, CA is getting bailed out in the first stimulus Democrats pass in January/February. They’ll likely get multiple bailouts, as will other states. Big CA donors are going to be in Kamala’s corner out of thanks.

Well yes, if she becomes President sometime during the next 4 years, the calculus changes. I don't think she'll be immune, but she'll definitely be more secure in her position as 2024 nominee.

I don't think anyone is saying Trump will run and have a shot in 2024, I think the idea is that the next generation of Trump (right-wing populist) would have a shot. Trump's personal brand would be finished, but the underlying conditions that created the space for him to be President would still be there unless the Democrats take drastic, structural action.
