It's def my weakest point. I'm just saying...there is no benefit here. I'm gonna assume the VP is gonna become the president at some point. Therefore you need someone who is experienced in the political world (ie has won elections state wide) and capable of rallying the party. Kamala can do that. Warren can do that. Maybe a governor candidate like Whitmer could do it. No one else can. If Rice had some type of short term, 2020 specific political benefit that could push Biden over the top I'd be all for it. But she doesn't.

The VP is likely going to be the one running the virus task force, doing interviews, etc etc while Biden focuses on the economy/congress relations/etc. The smart play would be to use the VP's youth to the administration's advantage and have that person be super visible. If we get the virus turned around, Biden will naturally get credit but the VP will have been the person who earned the country's respect/admiration. And if Biden bows out in 2023, the VP will be ready to take over and have something huge to run on. Even a merely satisfactory virus response is going to work wonders compared to the disaster we have now. Meanwhile if Biden can get the economy turned around, 2024 could be a very good year for democrats and the VP takes over as the leader.

I don't trust Rice to pull any of that off. I trust Kamala and Warren. And Whitmer, but it doesn't sound like she's being considered anymore.
I think there is a little bit of underestimation of Rice. She’s extremely smart and has a ton of political experience but admittedly hasn’t run a campaign but she’s not being asked to do that. She can do interviews with her eyes closed and worked on the Ebola crisis. In terms being president I guess it comes down to the circumstances. I would agree on 2024 but I don’t know that she’s any less ready than the rest. It’s just not in a traditional mold.

What do you think of Karen Bass?

I think anyone who daps scientology is disqualified from earning my trust or respect. But even beyond that...even if she didn't do that she is a congresswoman. I have ZERO interest in people who haven't won elections state wide. That means no congresswomen, no mayors, etc. Senators and governors, only. Winning state wide is an important bar to me, it suggests you are competent and understand how to win by appealing to various groups. It also means you've been vetting on a larger scale.

He didn't say black woman, but you can't really, and shouldn't really pick a white woman, to run on a platform of diversity, and to represent the Democratic parties wide range of races. It was really a brilliant idea, and I think the only push back is sexism, my Dad was all worked up about that too, "I think that was really stupid"

it remains to be seen, both who he chooses, and whether he wins, but I think it was a really good move. If you aren't excited for Joe Biden, you would be really unexcited for Joe Biden and Pete Buttigeg, or Julian Castro. A woman, who is also black is the best all around option.

I think Rice could easily pull all of those tasks off. In terms of putting together a coherent virus response and handling foreign policy, she's probably more qualified than any other candidate.

Her main issue is obvious(she hasn't run for office) but the tasks above wouldn't be over her head by any means.

Elizabeth Warren seals the election. I still don’t understand why she’s not a finalist
He could have just picked her in the beginning, if she was gonna be the pick. Honestly, she was always the best choice just not trendy.

Now I want him to go old school Biden and Bernie. Two old white dudes scratching off their bucket list.
