It's def my weakest point. I'm just saying...there is no benefit here. I'm gonna assume the VP is gonna become the president at some point. Therefore you need someone who is experienced in the political world (ie has won elections state wide) and capable of rallying the party. Kamala can do that. Warren can do that. Maybe a governor candidate like Whitmer could do it. No one else can. If Rice had some type of short term, 2020 specific political benefit that could push Biden over the top I'd be all for it. But she doesn't.
The VP is likely going to be the one running the virus task force, doing interviews, etc etc while Biden focuses on the economy/congress relations/etc. The smart play would be to use the VP's youth to the administration's advantage and have that person be super visible. If we get the virus turned around, Biden will naturally get credit but the VP will have been the person who earned the country's respect/admiration. And if Biden bows out in 2023, the VP will be ready to take over and have something huge to run on. Even a merely satisfactory virus response is going to work wonders compared to the disaster we have now. Meanwhile if Biden can get the economy turned around, 2024 could be a very good year for democrats and the VP takes over as the leader.
I don't trust Rice to pull any of that off. I trust Kamala and Warren. And Whitmer, but it doesn't sound like she's being considered anymore.
