There a few books about it, the mortal error and smoking gun are two that comes to mind.
Basically the agents were out drinking till 5 in the morning the night before and let a rookie carry the ar15 that might have killed the president. A bunch of witnesses claimed they saw the agent flailing around with the gun wildly after hearing gunshots and seeing a flash from the limo and would explain why people smelled the
burning gunpowder at street level. The trajectory of the bullet makes more sense coming from the direction of the limousine that the agents were in compared to the grassy knoll and manhole theory.
I went down a conspiracy rabbit hole on the assassination years ago and that theory was the one that made the most sense.

I always wondered where the hate for Carter came from because commonly talked about history would have you believe it was because of the Iran hostage situation (which was a bad shake for him)
But I watched a documentary on him last month and by cac America standards, my guy was wylin as president
Came into office telling Americans to stop being selfish and to be willing to sacrifice for their neighbors and that we have to learn how to not be over indulgent. He was basically telling Americans to not be arrogant pricks
And well... we know how that type of message plays to these arrogant American cacs. He even installed solar panels on the white house roof to conserve energy and was telling the American people that they should learn to conserve and stop being so wasteful.

I'm surprised he came president with that type of message in the first place. Either he hid his true feelings until he became president or there was enough resentment from the Nixon years that made it where someone who represented the complete opposite of tricky dikk was able to get elected.
