Salute to Jimmy Carter. I remember seeing an interview about southern food with him. When he won the presidency him and his wife met with the top chef at the White House and asked if he was familiar with southern food because they wanted it added to the menu; collard greens, black eyed peas, biscuits and gravy, etc. The chef looked at him in an almost condescending manner and said “oh yes, we cook that food for the servants and maids.”

I don't know much about Jimmy Carter as he's way before my time but my mom and pop who were in their mid-20s during his presidency have told me a few times that before Obama he was one of the last decent Presidents this country has had.
