Glad Brian Flores didn’t take the Jets gig and I wish Aaron Glenn the best. Watched him do his thing with the Jets in my first years of watching football full time.

Bring Flores home with the Giants after Daboll is out next season.

The immediate issue I see with this announcement is that they didn't list what the terms of the contract are.
It takes time to build a foundation in the NFL. You can't bring in Aaron Glenn and give him 3 years, knowing the 1st year is going to be painful.

Dan Campbell didn't make the Lions look like a real team until Year 3 and even then people didn't quite buy it.
He also had a much more reliable QB situation with Jared Goff than the Jets currently have.

The Jets don't have a lot of picks in this draft and they're not going to get any of the Top 3 rated QBs.
So that means best case scenario, the Jets get their franchise QB in 2026. Then Aaron Glenn has to develop that guy.

This is a 5 year project at best. I doubt the Jets ownership (and their fan base) hang in there for that long.

You don't need 5 years in the NFL for the last two decades

Belichick took over NE in 2000, went 5-11, then the next year he was a SB champ

Lovie Smith took over Chicago in 2004, went 5-11 IIRC, then was in the divisional round in 2005, and the SB in 2006

Sean Payton was in the NFCCG in year 1 in 2006.

Mike Smith took over in 2008 after the Falcons were devastated after losing Vick. They made the playoffs in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Pete Carroll took over in 2010, made the playoffs (although with a 7-9 record), was an opponent FG miss away from the NFCCG in 2012 and won the SB in 2013

Sean McDermott took over the Bills in 2017. After 17 straight playoff-less seasons, they made the playoffs in 2017 (before even drafting Josh Allen) , and have made it from 2019 to present. That's 7 of 8 seasons

Kyle Shanahan took over the 9ers in 2017 and was in the SB in 2019.

Sean McVay took over the Rams in 2017 and was in the SB in 2018 (non call on the DPI though against the Rams)

Dan Campbell got the Lions to the NFCCG by year 3

Demeco Ryans has gone to the divisional round in back to back seasons and started off with the No.2 pick

Herm Edward and who else? U act like they had a soul train line of Black coaches. I live in nj and my best friend has jets season tickets. I been dragged to enough jets games against my will to be pretty familiar with this bum ass squad and i listed to local sports media. The way they discussed Bowles and geno Smith is different.

Nyv racist ass fans aint ready.

To add to that people said the Eagles were 5 years away from being 5 years away after the mess Chip Kelly left behind. Howie Roseman & Doug Pederson took over in 2016 and won the SB in 2017.

The "5 year rebuild" hasn't been a real thing in the NFL in a long time, any GM & Coach worth their weight can take advantage of all the outlets at their disposal and see results translate to wins by year 2, if they aren't doing it by year 3 then they're just not good. There's nothing worse than what Holmes & Campbell inherited in Detroit, and they cracked .500 in year 2.

I don't see any Olympic level runners doing it with no shoes. I see HOF and perennial playoff coaches doing it before year 5 though...

Which successful coach in the last 25 years needed to take until their 5th year to be good?

Which coach that didn't "succeed" do you think would have succeeded of they got a 5th year?
