so is Bob Marley, Halle Berry, Lisa Bonet not Black to you?

ya'll are being redundant for the sake of arguing.

as i've stated, if you have a cac and black parent you're biracial. doesnt automatically mean you're a bad person...just that you're not black (or white) :yeshrug:

nothing ya'll say is gonna change my mind on this so it's a waste of time. :francis:

The speech was nice but speeches like this don't move me even a little anymore. I feel like applause over messages like this is tacky and it turned me completely off seeing cameras panning to celebrities clapping that are too cowardly to give similar messages in fear of rocking the boat and messing up their money.

It's almost hilarious considering that Jesse is biracial and openly attacking whiteness in a way that "full Black" Black people in that very same venue aren't.... Almost hilarious but ultimately saddening.

The Godverse
Mulattos are more likely to be hired over black people. More likely to receive lighter jail sentences. And are perceived to be more intelligent. If you want to pretend that white people don't see themselves in mulattos then fine, but I am not so naive. And if you don't see the irony in the idea of a half white mulatto preaching empty messages to a bunch of dumb rappers on a television channel owned by white people then I don't know what to tell you. I know how protective some of you coli poster are over your precious mulattos, so I'll let you all bask in the glory of this amazing, ground breaking speech....

Nah I agree, mixed ppl definitely have it easier, I'm just saying they still suffer under the system of white supremacy too and have every right to give a speech like this. Just because it comes from a "mulatto" doesn't mean it's less legit. If you aren't full blooded white, you're not part of the system of white supremacy.

please stop

I cant relate to someone that was looking up into some white woman's face saying "mommy":yeshrug:

i understand where you're coming from
but not every mixed person has a white mom, and if they do that don't mean their being raised by her

as long as you're still culturally black it shouldn't matter

:heh: dividing blacks by accurately calling people with a white and black parent biracial?
Dividing blacks because somehow after everything he said, pointing out the fact that he's biracial was more important to you than the message he delivered to a room of wealthy and powerful black people, and millions of black women, men and children around the country watching.

Not one post that you've made in this thread was about the message, but about his background.

Black people like you are dangerous to the community. That's the truth. Divisive, unnecessarily combative and stubborn.

His background is the least important thing about what happened tonight. You hovered over all those facts he spit, all that black unity, black applause, and black love, black appreciation. All that awareness. All that knowledge and had to find the one thing you could find that was "wrong" with him, and not the dozens of things that were right.

Like I said, blacks like you are a danger to the community. I mean that. You should

I knew this was going to be about black businesses. I fukking KNEW you would go there. Why do people think black business and black entrepreneurship would fix black problems? People act as if black businesses don't already exist? We need more, yes, but how in the fukk does that change black plight? Now had you said black banks that give lower interests rates and provide community services for disparate populations then I would have agreed, but black businesses aren't absolutely free from white involvement, nor do they fix problems for others. Community outreach is one of the best ways to get the car moving, because as Jesse Williams said, Knowledge is Power. So much more we could do if we educated others. Honestly shyt all starts with politics. If we could get our hands around the political upheaval going on then we could really make a change. But even if we just did that, we share this country with whites and other minorities. A black politician would have to cater to all of those races/ethnicities in order to get the vote. It's not so fukking simple man.
Your mistake is putting words in my mouth. I never said that it would fix all of our problems but it will still help and must be done.

Black businesses being supported so they can grow is just a part. Im sure there are other things that need to be done as you mentioned but lets not deny that helping black businesses grow is a necessary part as well because it provides benefits of money being circulated within our community and increases employment opportunities for our people not to mention it gives us more power in this country that can benefit our position in politics as well.

Another reason I respect his action becuase He is activist , using his pull to be heard .

Black or not he should be respected and admired as man first and foremost, for fighting the righteous fight.

All these black guardians who've never done shyt in the community, are all of sudden social anthropologist trying to claim who is black and who isn't. fukk outtahere

It's pitiful. The first thing I did after watching that speech was rewind it and black it for my son. Watched it a third time with my girl and all I could feel was pride. But of course, you come to this miserable ass site to see if people are appreciating it and of course that isn't the case.

This site is a cesspool. Pure garbage. Miserable people leading miserable lives

How you can watch this and not be proud is beyond me. How you can watch this, and the first thing that comes to your mind is what his mother looks like is beyond me.

How you can watch him give a speech about oppression, group economics, police brutality and black love, only to criticize his skin tone immediately after is beyond me.

How you can't appreciate a man with a black wife, speaking truths that black people need to hear is beyond me.

@ridedolo youre terrible. Really. Just terrible. In here trying to divide blacks like that. In here claiming you're pro black but creating negativity in a black space where the things that need to be talked about are being talked about. You're full of shyt.
It's bullshyt we heard before.

Feel good takin' shouldn't impress black Americans anymore. It's all about actions and results. That room was full of black millionaires who could hatched a plan on turning these black churches into after school programs or some shyt.

But no.

The typical feel good talk.

Fukk outta here.

You can only give out the blueprint for so long.

Breh basically told you straight up, stop letting these fools brand your forhead and giving the money you earn right back to em. Folks don't want to listen though. We'll see the same shyt with dudes filling up they garages with 30 new exotic cars and shyt. Breh..IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SPEECH, flexing his gold chain and shyt.

:francis:
Well thats why we need more people doing.
