If you don't know how much Puff contributes, then you're wasting time arguing especially saying he does nothing. It's contradictory.

Him adding a bell to one song is one story. It's "Special Delivery" and that bell is a staple on many Bad Boy songs. It's a signature.

Puff goes in, he puts the proper team together, a hit record comes out, and he takes the [credit]. He’s the pool shark, he’s the best at getting credit. He knows how to seize the opportunity to make sure the credit favors him. - Poke

Poke of Trackmasters. This is a producer that Puffy has worked with countless times and him and the Trackmasters made some magic together. Now in this quote, Poke gives dude props and calls him a great a&r. But he also calls out the bullshyt and far as him getting and stealing credit. This the Trackmasters, not some internet nikka. Everyone know what it is with dude lol

Poke: “It’s no big deal [we didn’t get the proper credit for that record]. It’s not like Puff don’t know what he’s doing. He is—if not one of the all-time greatest—the best A&Rs in the business. He knew about putting proper elements together and making hits. He probably wasn’t thinking, ‘I may be fukking up some of these people’s lives by not giving them the proper credit.’

“Mind you, this is pre-e-mail, this is pre-everything being typed out. Stupid shyt would happen. Let’s say we’re working on an album and we did two songs. Then the artist goes and works with other producers. Then they want to do more records when they get to the tail end of the album and we do more songs. The first set of songs get a first set of credits and then the last set of songs gets a different set of credits; it’s two different pieces of paper that you hand in.

how old are you?

:mjlol:

You don't think JD jumping on tracks talking about "y'all know what this is...SO...SO...Def" wasn't him doing his best Puff impression

:mjlol:
I remember Bivens doing that before Puffy.
You gonna say Puffy was a knockoff micheal bivins?

stop making up shyt, a vocal trademark isn't something new created by Puffy

Puff didn't steal credit. Everything The Trackmasters did at Bad Boy,, they got credit for. Puff's name NEVER appears alone. I'm certain a lot of ya'll never bought albums or read liner notes.

What Poke is referring to is them not getting credit for"Who Shot Ya". They cleaned that song up for Puff, but you didn't post that part because they clearly pointed out the difference between a beat maker and a producer in that part of the article.

JD is only in Puff's stratosphere on the r&b side, he's not on the rap side and that's what makes it lopsided

JD plays U Got It Bad, Puff plays Forever My Lady

JD plays We Belong Together, Puff plays I'm Goin Down

JD plays Always Be My Baby, Puff plays Fantasy

JD plays Where The Party At, Puff plays Only You Remix

Puff has a counter for EVERY r&b record JD could use

JD has no counters for the bad boy rap hits
I don't even disagree

My post is about JD being underrated and disrespected

No breh, they were speaking on the one more chance remix. On Who Shot Ya, Puff told Trackmasters to fix Nashiem Myricks drum a because they were “light”

I actually read that article a few times over the years as it’s a dope article. Yes, when speaking on Puff, I will use hyperbole sometimes and be like he ain’t do shyt. That’s not true at all. He made contributions. My whole point is, Puff thinks he’s above producers that he’s not. Sometimes he plays a small part, sometimes a big part, sometimes no part and gets credit. Tone and Poke aren’t the only dudes that have mentioned that he’s great at getting credit cause he is. He is an executive producer type, and that’s cool. Thing is, Dre and JD are executive producer types...And they can actually and have actually physically created classic shyt. I’m sorry, but the two don’t compare

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Ready to Die is a classic album bc of Puff

Puff was the one that made a rugged BK nikka like Biggie smoother around the edges

Biggie would've been Jeru The Damaja but Puff gave him the direction to be an all around rapper...rap for the streets, but rap for the ladies, rap about the ghetto fabulous lifestyle...don't just rock flannels, throw some coogi on, throw on some gators....Biggie's albums would've sounded a lot diff if he signed to labels like Ruffhouse back then
Pac was giving Biggie a lot of this advice as well.

No he did not. He literally just called out Puffy for Versuz, why you making up mogul shyt. lol

You puffy stans fell all the way back to lying out right to defend Puffy for what? he isn't a great producer, he isn't a writer, and he contributes nothing to the music.
If you want to say he is a promoter fine, but leave it there, but when it comes to music, JD shyts on him.
This is what Puffy does. He handed Pete Rock the sample. This is what Pete came wit.

He listened. Was like "nah. we need more". Got Trackmasters. Gave them direction to the point it came out like this. It's a hit record.

Now talent wise JD has more physical talent than Diddy. But Diddy is in a weird space. He's not completely hands off like a Clive Davis. He's WAY more involved with the music making process. But he's not completely hands on either. But he damn sure don't just let a nikka make some shyt. Then drop his name on it. He's in the studio right with them telling them what he needs or what the track needs. shyt. Dre is similar but he's more hands on than Diddy of course. But Dre will straight up mix a beat and get the production credit. lol. Like I said. Puff is in a weird space.

My question is still this. If he look at Diddy like this. Why he wanna battle him in Verzuz? Why not battle one of ur fellow songwriters hall of fame guys? At this point there's a bad energy surrounding this shyt anyway because these nikkas making it an NY vs The South argument. Straight up weirdo shyt. Tip the main one and he a whole goofball cause while he wanted 50 he ducked smoke from Busta and HE's the one who said ANYBODY from NY with a catalog can get the smoke. He called out NY in general and when Busta stepped up the nikka ducked the fade.

That was after my way He contributed along with JD though ( song writing wise) as opposed to Diddy not doing shyt :mjlol:

And Nuthin But A G Thang is nothing but a loop. So what u sayin? Bottom line is Puff knew what direction the song needed to go for it to blow. And fix your quotes cause it's confusing the hell out of your posts. lol

Westcoast
Jd was a boss and dropping hits. Nobody looked at him like he trying to be puffy. He was actually doing what puff acted like he was doing.
When Soso Def was going, nobody on the Westcoast saw Jermaine Dupri or Dabrat as some Puffy rip offs. Odd take.
