So what was his solution to save hip hop? Because streaming is here to stay. Nobody except stans and vinyl heads are buying physicals anymore and that's not changing. If you look at overall revenue the music business been booming for the last 8-10 years after being on life support.

These numbers all so heavily manipulated anyway. They stopped counting albums sold directly through artists websites whether physical or digital. They don't count album sales from bundles. Bots and streaming farms. In the end the labels still making major money and most artists getting fukked over, same as it ever was.

The one upside for artists is it's easier and cheaper than ever to record and release music. Independent artists that been able to build up loyal fanbases are doing well. But you gonna be lower profile, performing in smaller venues. A lot of musicians rather be famous with a bad 360 deal than making more money but having to grind with a lower profile and deal with business aspects.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
JD/his artists/production work ran from 92-06, that definitely coincides with the heyday of record sales which peaked from ~98-04
In 92 going gold was a GREAT accomplishment in hip hop. Most successful hip hop albums that didn't full cross over went around that range.

TYRONE GA!
No. A digital album has always counted the same as a physical album. Album "units" stopped being CDs in the early 2010s.

"1,250 premium streams or 3,750 free streams from the same album is equivalent to 1 album unit."
and that number keeps getting changed/manipulated.

stop trying to conflate streams with sales.

give it it's own thing.

They both had sold out tours last year lol

They actually had to upgrade the venue size for Sexyy Red, which was impressive.

Do your sold-out tours over there where it sells. :unimpressed: Leave the Tri-State Area the hell alone so that actual Box Office Draws can be headliners instead. That's my message to The Powers That Be.

Album sales in the streaming era is a mute point
Album units are equivalent to streams. If your "album sales" are low it means your streams are low. :comeon:

"1,250 premium streams or 3,750 free streams from the same album is equivalent to 1 album unit."

28,000 copies is too much for that person. Not even going to say her name. :picard: glad to see people recognizing whats really going on.

They sold out the tri-state area too.

You can’t judge them based off a random trash festival that’s been dying for years now.
