I loved The Warm Up and Friday Night Lights, hell even The Come Up was great to me his cover of Nas "You're Da Man" is 
Everything since then has been bland to average.
His first album had no plan just a collection of songs some old and the mainstream reach Work Out, the title track is amazing but other than that colossal disappointment.
Born Sinner was cool for a minute just lacked replay value and again artistry and direction dude couldn't explain the meaning of his album title. Power Trip and Crooked Smile are straight corn. The song with Kendrick was weak too.
FHD was just bland I thought he would really go in on Ferguson with the way he was at the protests and Be Free track. He half-assed the social commentary, disgraced the Give Up The Goods beat with weak half-assed singing, and as a 30 year old man had a song about losing his virginity. Love Yourz and January 28th are dope though.
His fans are tricked into thinking he's so lyrical and deep, really he appeals heavy to the college demographic, females, and pseudo intellectuals love him.
He doesn't do the whole conscious storytelling angle as well as Kendrick or the introspective songs and ladies songs as good as Drake.
We need THIS Cole...dude was raw AF and had mad passion
All in all he's not a bad MC, he's eating and I definitely wouldn't mind that K-Dot and Cole album. To me though he's just not as skilled a rapper as Kendrick or Drake...less talented MC's like Rocky make better albums than him too.
