True, Chance does the harmonizing much better than what Cole put out there on FHD. Wasn't really comparing, more so giving an example of why people were saying they saw some Chance influence with Cole's latest album and all of the singing he put on it.

I understand what Cole was going for, and I have an idea on where he got the inspiration from. Especially since Cole has said he's been checking for Chance and how he's a fan.
Cole been singing:what:

and you were comparing them cause you said cole was "attempting" to do the same thing

shyt, Born Sinner was fukking great too. Cole has been doing cole. Only his first album was a mess with old records and no direction and what not. Everything else Cole has put out has been dope. And sideline story had a bunch of dope records too.
I actually prefer sideline story to born sinner.

Warm up is still his best work though

I know he's been "singing", but he def wasn't to the extent that he was on FHD. Is this even debatable?
:comeon:

I've heard every single Cole project, so I'm aware of his content. He wasn't singing on his previous stuff as much as he was on FHD.

and doesn't chance have a backround singer in that song? obviously the "harmonizing" would be better
:heh:

And that's why COLE should get some vocalists in the studio as well. Not denying that he can write a good song, but he hinders the sound of the records when he sings over them. I never understood why people thought it was so great that he didn't have any features on this album, after you hear some of the songs that would have clearly benefited from a vocalist being on them.

It's like Nobody's Perfect from Sideline Story. Yeah he penned the hook, but the song sounds WAY better with Missy doing the hook than if Cole would have gone in there and done it himself I imagine.

People like it cause its personal. It works better on a personal/emotional level if hes saying the lyrics himself.

Same reason people liked that letterman performance.

and yall wonder why he's selling out stadiums. :heh:

Cole is a a solid rapper who I will continue to support but hes yet to put together a memorable album. All 3 albums are okay, with some great songs but thats about it.At this point I dont even know if he is capable of making a great album, let alone a classic.

I want to believe he is,Id like to see him let someone else produce an album for him.

Each of those songs have 2 to 3 verses of rapping, now are you saying those songs and his "singing" on those songs is similar to these?

I'm talking about the structure of his his songs, you're just winding it down to, "he always sung and harmonized"... well he never really had more of that over rapping like he did on this album on songs. Where he would rap like 1 verse and sing a verse and the hooks.

And those old songs are exact examples of why old Cole >>>>>>>>> New Cole

Actually, I understand 100% why he's selling out stadiums.

He's essentially the Taylor Swift of HipHop where he's made a real personal connection with them. AT this point, his diehard fans will be there for life.

Given the success of FHD, I don't think he has reason to venture outside of his comfort zone. I honestly want the Cole/Kendrick collab to come out, because I feel that would force Cole to come harder with the lyrics.

He's doing the same sing-songy rapping he's always done. Difference now is, in having a larger budget and actually trying to make songs as opposed to just rapping, you get a little bit more of that stuff.

I said he's singing more on FHD than he has done before, meaning yes he's sang and harmonized before, but not like on FHD on some songs.

How am I hating with the Taylor Swift comparison?

Cole has made a concerted effort to connect to his fans via other means than the traditional ways of doing things. He's had dollar tours, he's gone to fans graduations, he's had fans come through his childhood home, he's linked up with fans on their lunch breaks to sign autographs... It wasn't a diss, it's why his fans are so "in" to him, the same way Taylor's are all into her.
