Breh, Kanye's superstardom didn't help Jay Z as Kanye's own star was fading during that period largely due to him singing instead of rapping and the whole Taylor Swift debacle.

Breh, 20/20 Experience was JT's third solo album, not his sophomore effort. Jay Z was featured on the lead single, which was the first single Justin had released in years. This wasn't the other way around.

Yes, he toured with him? Both JT albums, Jay Z's MCHG, Beyonce's self titled album, and some of a Nas album were recorded in the same Jungle studio during the same period in 2012-2013. There are pictures confirming this.

Jay Z discovered Rihanna and signed her. He was featured on the song that catapulted her career ("Umbrella").

Beyonce launched her solo career with Jay Z collaborations.

First off everybody knows back in 2009 Jay enlisted Rihanna and Kanye both who were bigger than him at that time on run this town. Let’s not forget that Jockin Jayz single flopped. Kanye was still a big star after releasing MBDTF. His buzz after releasing that album helped launched WTT.

My fault third album from JT. Still a 7 year break but was anticipated nevertheless. Jayz on the feature didn’t help the single it was more of coattail piggyback. It wasn’t frontin. Same thing can be said for Umbrella with Rihanna who was already a star at that time. Jay had that weak verse added to that song. On radio sometimes they wouldn’t even play Jayz verse.

BEYONCÉ was a bigger star than Jay. That no debatable.

BEYONCÉ was a bigger star than Jay. That no debatable.

"Run This Town" was one song and it wasn't even the biggest song on the album. While we're at it, BP3 sold more copies than the Kanye album before and the one that came after. "Empire State of Mind" was Jay's first #1 as a solo artist and features neither Kanye or Rihanna. "Jockin Jay Z" is produced by Kanye, and it STILL flopped.

Kanye was still huge, but his star power wasn't making anyone else a star or helping anyone else to reason relevant at that point. Also one of the bigger singles from MBDTF features Jay Z ("Monster") and WTT wasn't created off Kanye's buzz. Jay and Kanye had enough material recorded together for MBDTF to do an album. That album was going to happen regardless. MBDTF dropped late 2010 and "HAM" (first single for WTT) dropped early 2011.

Yeah, the single was anticipated, but you're overlooking the fact that "Suit & Tie" still has a Jay Z feature. If anything, it could be argued JT was riding Jay Z's coattails. Rihanna was NOT a star before "Umbrella". "Umbrella" took Rihanna to a whole other plateau of stardom. Jay DID not have that verse added. His verse is part of the original song.

Beyonce became bigger than Jay Z over time. This was not always the case. Beyonce's solo career launched off the rumored (at the time) romance between the two. "Bonnie & Clyde '03" is what she'd her teeny bopper Destiny's Child image and had people looking at her as solo artist. "Crazy In Love" FEATURING JAY Z made her official. "Deja Vu" also FEATURING JAY Z from her sophomore solo album was also huge. Her last Top 3 song is "Drunk In Love", which also features Jay Z. Jay only has two singles featuring Beyonce and only one of those was a huge hit for him. Jay appeared on two songs each on Beyonce's first two solo albums. How many songs on Jay's albums does Beyonce feature on?

Yeezus came out before MCHG. Jay Z got upset at Kanye telling his affairs on Blood on The Leaves , so Kanye either censored Jay's name or doesn't sing the 3rd verse.

"Blood On The Leaves" is not about no Jay Z and Beyonce. That was all speculation.

The 3rd verse.

Third verse isn't about them either. In fact that verse is rather vague. At face value, this is Kanye dismissing groupies trying to get him caught up on the strength of knowing Jay Z. Then it goes into addressing instagram thots before going into keeping the wife and the side chick separate. But it gets complicated because the side chick is pregnant and due to religious beliefs, the baby isn't going to be aborted. This verse ends in the dude in the scenario losing everything in alimony.

None if this alludes to Jay Z cheating on Beyonce as much as it does celebrities in general getting caught up and losing everything over side pieces and Instagram thots.

Only thing I learned from this thread is how people will spin collaborations as wave riding or chasing coat tails. BUT, somehow it only applies to Jay Z. As if every rapper hasn't had a feature with a bigger artist on their song and ya'll say nothing. Prime example, is Jay Z even being featured on other people's songs being categorized "wave riding", but Kanye has had those same features and him doing it is labeled "genius". We really acting like Kanye didn't hop on auto tune after T-Pain and then Wayne made it hot? We really acting like Kanye didn't get Timbaland to re-do the drums on "Stronger" and "Good Life" after he saw 50 score a hit with "AYO Technology" which was co-produced by Tim? We really acting like Kanye didn't have Rihanna featured on one of his biggest singles in "All Of The Lights" (along with a "We Are The World" sized feature list on the same song)? We gonna act like Ye ain't have T-Pain on his album because T-Pain was one of the biggest artists out (Kanye's words)? We gonna act like Kanye didn't have DJ Toomp production after T.I.'s "What You Know" became a massive hit?

I could go on.
