I never disputed the similarities between the albums. I'm disputing the notion that anyone thought about Life is Good or Nas while making the album.

NO ID mentioned Illmatic as being an album with a mistake on it, One Time For Your Mind. It was a starting point for improvement.
That song had a mistake, what was it?

You know nothing and you're wrong. Many people will let you know this very soon.

In the meantime, enjoy Jay's first conscious album. Its a good effort i must admit. Just glad No ID was able to get him refocused on meaningful music.
Uh...The Black Album? American Gangster?

Even Watch The Throne had these same elements :francis:

What have y'all been listening to?

So it's unanimous I guess that One Time For Your Mind is the worst joint on there? Because most people I know admit to skipping it, and it's the basis for my whole theory that a true 5 mic classic album can be allowed one skipper.

A lot of Coli heads agree too, and it's nice to see No ID does as well.

Ironically if it wasn't for NO ID, Jay would have likely released another weed plate like MAgna Carter.

Again, I'm glad NO ID refocused the camel for this latest album. Much improved from his last effort.

I hope people take note that one producer for an entire project can be so dope. Premier, Pete Rock, Dilla, RZA, Madlib, Alchemist, 9th Wonder, Kanye West, Pharrell, No ID...most of the best producers ever do at least a few full albums for artists during their careers.

Hip-hop has turned all producers into 'beatmakers' and it's not for the better. I've heard of rappers firing producers for coaching them or giving input on songs. That's what they're supposed to do. Apparently Jay has always been really good about taking advice from producers. Just Blaze said Jay is really good about it and Eminem is not for example.

Getting one producer like No ID was such a great idea. You gotta trust these guys to produce, and that includes coming up with ideas and not just getting busy on the pads.

jay missed a rly obvious multi syllable rhyme with that money phone line. instead of:

Y'all on the 'Gram holdin' money to your ear
There's a disconnect, we don't call that money over here, yeah

it shoulda been something like:

Y'all on the 'Gram holdin' a money phone to your ear
There's a disconnect, we don't call that money over here, yeah

Again, Hov probably did that on purpose

He's been doing this a lot longer than you think. He'll let you fill in the blanks.

Hov is not a literal rapper. Thats what makes him and guys like Lupe so great. They have a way of playing with words to force you to think beyond merely whats being said.

Oh I know, Getting married and Undying love (which is one of my fav nas tracks) come to mind. I really just don't understand why people keep trying to pit this album against Nas stuff.

Because a lot of hip-hop heads will die not getting over the fact that the Nas vs Jay Z was a moment in history and was not meant to be a life feud. Which is ironic because Jay just told people three days ago about nobody winning when the family feuds. But a lot of HHH still ain't listening...

They'll make a race of Nas and Jays career until those two die. As if they've proclaimed to be rivals forever.
Das Hip-Hop I guess.:manny:
