Don't big bro me, don't "Big Homie"
I've seen pure admiration become rivals
I've been to Paris at least two times
I've seen the Eiffel, I've seen a eyeful

This may be a reach, but is this possibly a warning to Kanye similar to his warning to Nas in Takeover (You know who, did you know what, etc)? Maybe Hov saw Ye do something in Paris that he wanted to warn him could become public.

Been thinking the same thing

Honestly I could care less about the actual album personally, I'm not the target because I agree with the messenger regardless of his very hypocritical views. The response it's getting is powerful because it's finally shifted the topic back to our empowerment and regardless of anyone's personal position on what Jay said; it's brought the "proper" individuals to the discussion table because they respect the messenger. The moment you get someone to defend their actions and speak on these topics, even in disagreement they provide energy & life to those topics. IMO things will shift in one of two directions after this short moment in time passes. Those that agree/disagree will carve a very important path for the culture.

I love this album but as a Jay fan im mad folks calling it his first "conscious" album. Jay been on the black excellence shyt since WTT. And honestly MCHG does the things he does on 444 better. Only difference is one had JT on the lead single and one had Story of OJ as lead single.

I disagree, the last point you made is why folks are saying this his first conscious ALBUM. Jay always gives bits and pieces of it as he did on WTT and MCHG on some songs but he did a whole album full of conscious stuff. No bangers for the club in the typical sense or anything. Just straight consciousness and the unmasking of himself.

Jay might be the GOAT if he got another one of these in him :francis: Gonna be him versus Pac for me.

Again, Hov probably did that on purpose

He's been doing this a lot longer than you think. He'll let you fill in the blanks.

Hov is not a literal rapper. Thats what makes him and guys like Lupe so great. They have a way of playing with words to force you to think beyond merely whats being said.
Facts, I still say that Effen line was a mention of Fifty Cent. I don't care what no one say fam.

J. Elec wrote "Legacy" :pachaha:
Any proof? Are is that joke cause of the irony lol.

Why do people keep saying this, it's nothing like a nas album.

Has Nas talked intimately about kelis, family and friends on his joints?

The only thing that's similar to nas album is this jay album is conscious

Listen to Nas's song daughters or the Life Is Good album and you will see why.

Caught their eyes is a big one man. I hated Frank Ocean's voice on the hook but it grew on me. Really soulful!

I feel where you're coming from but "BAM" is a radio/club record.

Is not the typical one though. A lil too lyrical then the typical hit song now a days but you're right. I see potential for Bam and Caught Their Eyes as big singles for the album but especially Bam.

Edit:HopefullyMarcy Me too but IDK. Radio so bad now a days.

I apologize
Our love was one for the ages and I contained us
And all this ratchet shyt and we more expansive
Not meant to cry and die alone in these mansions
Or sleep with our back turned
We supposed to vacay 'til our backs burned
We're supposed to laugh 'til our heart stops
And then meet in a space where the dark stop
And let love light the way
Like the men before me, I cut off my nose to spite my face
I never wanted another woman to know
Something about me that you didn't know
I promised, I cried, I couldn't hold
I suck at love, I think I need a do-over
I will be emotionally available if I invited you over
I stew over,
what if
you over
my shyt?

Man, y'all nikkas don't even know.

When you got a good woman that you've taken for granted for so long and one day it just hits you that you could lose all that over some bullshyt. I feel that brehs :wow:

Of course people are gonna compare jay and nas albums when 4:44 follows LIG with NO ID as executive producer and features Damian Marley.

Can't avoid it which sucks bc art and music isn't baseball or boxing. There's no objective best and there can be competition without the need to decide a clear winner. fukk it but it just sucks the fun out of it.

Honestly the internet obsession over jay vs nas is one of the worse things to happen to hip hop. More time has passed between now and their make up concert than their debuts and their make up concert.

But if any conclusion should be made it's that NO ID is amazing and we should be forever grateful he got both albums out of jay and nas for us. They both floundered for a long time and he straightened them both out and dropped some classic music anyone stuck in the 90s.

:heh: and :to: for cats talking bout "where his lead single?"

THIS isn't the album for that.

If thats what you expecting, it went right over your head. This grown man music. Nobody saying Hov reinventing the wheel or nothing, but we've (as fans) NEVER seen Hov get this personal for a whole album.

At best he give you a song or two, but this one right here isn't for clubs, trunks/systems, strippers. And he not stepping on anybody toes (aside from the obvious) he made an album for the older heads like myself, and continues to let the young cats shine as well. (the tupac nosering line) If it ain't for you, it ain't for you and that's cool...Stick to the money phones on IG. Funny thing is, folks think he "dissed" that, he didn't say stop doing it (if that's your thing) he just said we don't consider that "having money" where he is in his life. Tryna show people another side, but they wanna stay where they at, :yeshrug:
