After "Nobody's Smiling" and the skeletal production on that Vince Staples album I thought No I.D was done.. but it boils down to sample clearance and budgets I guess.

Yeah no id's original beats arent too amazing but he can flip the fukk outta sample . just look at bp3 and mbdtf

Honestly I had no interest in a new Jay-Z album but I heard The Story of O.J. on the radio yesterday and it reeled me in.

This is the Jay-Z album I want in 2017. I have to give it some time but it's definitely his best work since American Gangster and I might wind up liking this more than that. It's very cohesive, perfect length and the content is what I want to hear from him at this point. He's not chasing today's sound or collaborating with who's hot at the moment for a hit. I didn't expect to like this but I am really feeling it after a few listens. Great job NO I.D.
