Well for one...

I am, have and will always be a fan of production. I'm not a beats matter and rhymes don't dude, but I am very easily bored by stale, dated, or beats that fall low of whatever mark they're reaching for. If you're gonna trap, trap the best. If you're gonna boom bap, boom bap the best etc. etc.

And I'm mad that Vlad, someone I don't particularly care for or care about, has seemingly highjacked the "Nas picks bad beats" argument, because for close to a decade, it's been something I've always thought to myself, but never had the courage to argue (I don't like confrontation lol, and like I said, I'm over the Nas vs. Jay thing)

I look at the production credits of LIG, and I see people I like - ID, Salaam, JUSTICE League - the beats they gave Nas (or that Nas picked
full
) for that album, aren't even close to the best beats that those producers have and were producing around the time. Just as an example, many of the No ID beats on The Dreamer/The Believer are better than any of the No ID beats on LIG bar Stay, maybe.

LIG is better than MCHG, yes. But musically, one of those albums is dull and uninspired to my ear, and one is contemporary, bouncy, and varied.

:yeshrug:

Homie the beats on that album are on point. I'd wager its his best produced album since it was written

Word????? I don't see how you can't like it.
It's literally one of the most overrated albums on the internet ever. Only online is it near classic and Nas 4th best album. I said it before and I'll say it again, people were just happy to hear Nas rap over listenable beats again. A lot of good songs and perhaps 3 or 4 great ones. But albums that people malign like Hip Hop is Dead are probably better. I don't get it at all. Like I won't skip it if it comes on but I don't see how with a discography like Nas' this is what people are hanging their hats on. Maybe there are just a lot of older Nas fans online.

Hip Hop is Dead is good but it hasn't aged as well for me. Life Is Good, 5 years later, still rocks. I think the truly only dead period of Das' career is I am and Nastradamus. I am because he was all over the place and seemingly didn't know who he was or what he was doing, Nastradamus because it's just average as hell but after that, everything else works to one degree or another

I agree with every point. Especially the bolded parts.

Blueprint 4
Clearly Hov has always had a thing for the #4. His B-day is on the 4th, so is Beyonce. They both married on 4/4/2008. He owns the 40/40 club.
Rocafella 4ever, Hov 4 life
Debuts a classic, first album 4 mics
Shoulda got a five, but nikkas lack 4sight
But I don't giva fukk I ain't do it 4 the hype
I do it 4 the hustlas, 4 the ghetto, 4 their plight
4 the struggle, 4 those who bubble white
4 fly 4x4's, roofless cars, flawless ice
4 the pain, 4 y'all to know what its like
4 every time it rained 40 days and 40 nights
4 every promise made that never saw the light
I'll get my own 40 acres give me 4 nights
4 o's a Glock 40 4 the jackers and I'm right
Or the .44 will suffice
A 14 year old to look out 4 the vice
You can sit back and just wait 4 the flight
Boy will take off, like I've been strippin all my life
That's the type of meta4s I write
To let nikkas know I was real be4 the mic
4 front rows had the fur at the fight
No PETA on my Peter -- left some room 4 the divas
In the suite we'll meet up, if you wild 4 the night
On a rampage, champagne pours on the floor
4 all those who ain't make it here and lost they life
Wouldn't 4get yall 4 any price
Not 4 no hoes, not 4 no ice
Not 4 no fame, nor 4 bright lights
So I'mma end this here real mean, but I'm right
44 4's motherfukker, I'm NICE - Jay Z (44 4's)

Jay Z & Beyoncé both tattooed IV (4) on their ring finger when they got married

jay-z-beyonce-tattoo.jpg

Their daughter Blu Ivy is a pun on Jay's favorite color (Blue) and Roman IV (4)
Blu Ivy = Blue IV/4

My favorite hue is Jay Z Blue - Jay Z (Go Crazy Remix)

But see the "only online" shyt is null and void to me because that presupposes we run in the same circles. For example: Among my circle of friends, 36 chambers isn't a classic. Why? Because most of them haven't heard it or when they did, it just didn't work for them. Now to the hip hop world in general, it is. To the music world in general, it is. But to my circle of friends? Nah. That doesn't mean its not dope or not a classic or even near classic. The world is bigger than our circle

Don't get the excitement. His last couple of albums were bad. Just face it we're never getting Reasonable Doubt/Blueprint/Black Album Jay-Z. It's not going to happen. He's too grown and uninspired.
