Man, Hov is my/the GOAT. And MCHG is listenable all the way through. It's a passable album for 85% of artists but when you've put out the kinda stuff he has and is capable of, I see why people poo-poo it.

Still better than some of N*s' recent shyt, but there's a reason I don't post a ton here. When it comes to The Coli I don't do militancy, and I don't do :ahh: vs. :scusthov: anymore lol

I fukk with Somewhere too. I also like (but not love) FUTW and Jay-Z Blue.

fukk it.

I like the album. But that's just me. I'm objective enough to know it's not good in the grand scheme of things and I'll never try and talk anyone else into liking it, but I can put it on let it play through once in a while.

Nah lol. shyt is not better than life is good. Not even close. And jay is in my top 5 and one of my favs but I gotta call it like I see it

That's the Elephant in the Sub Forum I was tryna avoid lol

I've tried... really tried to get why people, and specifically, this site, likes that album so much, but I can't. LIG only ever comes up here. Nobody I know, or nowhere I've seen ever brings that album up.

Better than MCHG? I'll definitely give you that, but even after literally listening to it back to front again about a week ago while I was working, I was just numb. There are some good songs, but it's one of those "If I never hear this again, I'll live" joints to me.

Clearly Hov has always had a thing for the #4. His B-day is on the 4th, so is Beyonce. They both married on 4/4/2008. He owns the 40/40 club. I mean it's clear he's using numerology symbolism but we have to wait to see what it means. This year is also the 20th Anniversary of "In My Lifetime", his first Platinum album which was released on 11/4/97. It's also been 4 years since his last album (MCHG 2013) Anyways, Hov and NaS been starving us for the last 4-5 years. I get it, they older now raising families doing the business thing. I'm totally fine with them not dropping in several years. It gives you time to miss them. With all that said It's time fellas.

Well for one...

I am, have and will always be a fan of production. I'm not a beats matter and rhymes don't dude, but I am very easily bored by stale, dated, or beats that fall low of whatever mark they're reaching for. If you're gonna trap, trap the best. If you're gonna boom bap, boom bap the best etc. etc.

And I'm mad that Vlad, someone I don't particularly care for or care about, has seemingly highjacked the "Nas picks bad beats" argument, because for close to a decade, it's been something I've always thought to myself, but never had the courage to argue (I don't like confrontation lol, and like I said, I'm over the Nas vs. Jay thing)

I look at the production credits of LIG, and I see people I like - ID, Salaam, JUSTICE League - the beats they gave Nas (or that Nas picked

) for that album, aren't even close to the best beats that those producers have and were producing around the time. Just as an example, many of the No ID beats on The Dreamer/The Believer are better than any of the No ID beats on LIG bar Stay, maybe.

LIG is better than MCHG, yes. But musically, one of those albums is dull and uninspired to my ear, and one is contemporary, bouncy, and varied.
