Been listening since the drop.

I love this verse on NeverEnding story

Have you ever heard the tale of
The noblest of gentlemen who rose up from squalor?
Tall, dark, and decked out in customary regalia
Smellin' like paraphernalia
Hailin' from the home of Mahalia
His uptown smile was gold like a Frankie Beverly day
His favorite song from Prince was not "Raspberry Beret"
It was "Sometimes It Snows In April"
He was brought up by the faithful
In the cage of every unclean bird, ungrateful and hateful

Was thinking how much New Orleans love Maze & Frank Bev, Golden Time of Day Is a classic

I’ve settled in with this album.

Its a daily listen for me.

Got my haircut Saturday, walked in the barbershop and they was playing the album. This is more of a TM101 barbershop than Exhibit C , if you know what I mean. Avg age is 35 and up and most of them nikkas from the lower 9 or uptown.

Jay Elec has a Nola reference in every verse, but you gotta really know the city to catch them.

to me a let down. yeah you can be lyrical but almost every track is like some on slow shyt trying to be black and history but he with a white wife that made him a billionaire.

What I haven't seen mentioned here is Jay Elect is letting the beats breathe at the end of the track. Sometimes letting the instrumental go on for over a minute, e.g. Ghost of Soulja Slim and Universal Soldier. Been missing that on records these past decades. Reminding me of Liquid Swords, which is never a bad thing.

THE ALBUM WOULD HAVE BEEN 25 MINUTES LONG IF HE DIDNT DO THAT.

poetry of the highest quality are the songs below. Whatever half assed shyt that Jay Elec put out is nothing compared to what his actual solo album was supposed to be. This shyt just pisses me off more . Why does it have to be a joint album with Hov? RELEASE YOUR OWN shyt GOD DAMN IT :damn:

"Eternal Sunshine"

"Voodoo Man"

better in tune with the infinite

shiny suit theory

Dear Mr. Moleskine

Katrina Levees Broke

Road to Perdition

The great Wise Intelligent weighs in...

I'm sure people will dismiss wise intelligence or say he irrelevant

But this man is a grandmaster like lupe calls them

But like it's been said you dont have to like the album

It could have been done how you wanted it but what makes music good is the left field stuff that fits into Hip-Hop lore

Everybody should have their own genuine opinion regardless of what anybody else says but as you said Wise Intelligent is certified and has credibility. A truly great MC and lyricist, the way he rhymes and writes also gives him deeper knowledge than some because he's a master of styles and is heavy on the content too.

I F**** WITH THIS!!! #heavy I heard a lot of reviews, opinions and critiques of the album. There are some masterful lyrics on this @jayelectronica project - from Jay E & Jay Z! If I don't know anything else about Hip Hop/Rap music - I KNOW LYRICS! and I KNOW LYRICISTS! While most of today's rap seek to embody "a whole lotta gang sh**" there's "A whole lotta god sh**" on here! #jayelectronica #jayz #debut #lyrics

So when he says there's masterful lyrics on the album it holds a lot of weight because that's his specialty, similar to a line on the album but with a twist sometimes it takes a master to recognize a master too. Wise will pick up on a lot of the lyrical intricacies and content that many will miss, he really is highly intelligent and in tune. He deserves more props for his own work too, have always tried to support and put people on to his shyt because he's dropped some real skillful and substantive work over the years, even the last years, The Blu Klux Klan album was very dope. Another MC who is unconventional yet scientific with the craft. So him praising the album in such a way is a credit to the album, notice a lot of true MC's/lyricists are really feeling it, cause they understand it on another level too.
