Where The Grass Is Blue
"Like Vince Staples said, we just wadin' in the water
My people out in Flint still bathin' in the slaughter
ICE out here rippin' families apart at the border
Satan struck Palestine with yet another mortar
Lies from the reporters
Ass shots and stripper poles for the eyes of my daughter, hm
Swing low sweet chariot, my train is on schedule
But I had to take the Underground Railroad like Harriet

Weave the whole industry, every jab I've parried it
My cross I carried it

My crown of thorns to cavalry from Nazareth
The orbit was too wide to calculate the azimuth
The journey was technically unexplainable, hazardous
Rise, young gods, all paths lead to Lazarus
The dry bones that lifted up from the valley dust
The prayers of the slaves are the wings that carry us
A field full of dreams is where they tried to bury us (Bury us)"
Song just awakens your soul:lawd:

It about what I expected. I never thought this would be as good as the hype surrounding it. I never felt any of the songs were this incredible masterpiece from the beginning. I will say that I didn’t realize this was a group. I just thought he was an artist jay was trying to get over. I guess I’m not a “real” fan. But whatever. I give it 3.5 out of five

No one can complain about the heavily dense content and the immaculate wordplay/lyricism by both. The replay value is extremely high. Which to me is a sign of an amazing project.

but man if flux capacitor is just straight unlistenable. Its just them spitting over random incoherent noises. Shiny suit beat is trash too and the dream random babbling at the end totally makes a meh song into an instant skip.

I have a stange feeling this album will have producers remix the album

Not on the level of the black album remixes (Im still looking for the big ghost ltd remixes ...cant find it anywhere :mjcry:)

so that will happen

Its just Jay elect wanted this to stick out so people can focus more on the lyrics :ehh:

Everywhere...You never there.
Maybe the expectation was too high , maybe too much time has passed , maybe I’ve been so far beyond jaded for a while now with damn near ALL rap, maybe I’m placing too much emphasis on the sparse production style ...but this feels LIGHT .

And Jay-Z is offbeat too , and isn’t meshing seamlessly with Elect by any means . Jay Z really doesn’t add much at all.

some gems in here tho , but not something I’d consistently revisit .

feels like an overachieving mixtape of loosies ft. Jay Z and not a debut album .

I’ll dive back in later I guess . :manny:

low key, Royce’s new album hit me much harder :manny:

Nah. This ain’t it. Mad disappointed.

That nicca Jay Elec said “I’m hot like a tamale”

:francis:

I wait 24,875,865 days for a Jay Elec album and get 30 minutes of Jay-Z overshadowing him. Plus there is no continuity on this. This can’t be life.

What about the 5011 incredible bars?

Album ain't for everybody and that's a good thing.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
It ain’t about the album being “different”. Even as far as production. I think Roc Marci is the GOAT of the 2010s and his production is different as fukk. But my issue is this album feels kinda rushed and incomplete. No constant theme. Seems like songs thrown together. The nikka Jay Z got more verses than Jay Elect on the album. And Jay Z been dropping albums since 1996 and still had enough in his tank to match and even outshine Jay Elect on most of the tracks. Except when Jay Elect REALLY gets in his bag lyrically. And I’m pretty sure this some shyt Jay kinda just wrote some shyt for to make sure it came out. Prolly wasn’t even as focused as he could get. To me. It’s a decent project. Not really amazing. Doesn’t really feel like an album. And Hov got way too much airplay for this to be a DEBUT album. 3.5 out of 5.

I feel you breh, but “hot like a tamale” is right up there with “I jam like Smuckers” for lazy bars. He sounds lazy on a lot of this project.

The project ain’t wack, but it’s not really dope either. Underwhelming effort for an MC that should have a a lot more in the chamber after waiting all these years.
