It ain’t about the album being “different”. Even as far as production. I think Roc Marci is the GOAT of the 2010s and his production is different as fukk. But my issue is this album feels kinda rushed and incomplete. No constant theme. Seems like songs thrown together. The nikka Jay Z got more verses than Jay Elect on the album. And Jay Z been dropping albums since 1996 and still had enough in his tank to match and even outshine Jay Elect on most of the tracks. Except when Jay Elect REALLY gets in his bag lyrically. And I’m pretty sure this some shyt Jay kinda just wrote some shyt for to make sure it came out. Prolly wasn’t even as focused as he could get. To me. It’s a decent project. Not really amazing. Doesn’t really feel like an album. And Hov got way too much airplay for this to be a DEBUT album. 3.5 out of 5.

Jay doesn't have a verse on the last 3 songs though

The son of slaves, true
I started out as a peasant
That's why I build my temple like Solomon, in the desert
The Lord is my rock, I speed dial through salah
My trials in the fiery crucible made me hot
I glow like embers of coal, born with a touch of gold
My mathematical theology of rhymin' a touch the soul
I spent many nights bent off Woodford
Clutchin' the bowl, stuffin' my nose
Some of the cons, I suffered for prose(pro’s)

- Jay Electronica (Universal Soldier)

Saint Hov, story takes place in ancient Egypt
They'll cut off the nose to spite their face, they'll steal ya Jesus
I can't tell Hattie White “that blue-eyed version is make believe stuff”
She’d throw me out the house, say: "Ye deliver us from this heathen"
I say that to Ms. Tina she'll sneeze at sun/son, her photic reflex
They both had straighten combs, little did they know
I hold the heat next
Neither two, can be used to fix our defects
P.S: We born PERFECT,
FUKK all the BS
Everybody wanna BE us for real,
we just gotta SEE us

- Hov (Universal Soldier)

Neither tool,
can be used to “fix” our defects
PS = “PhotoShop” / Post-Scriptum
Everybody wanna be us forreal
We just gotta “see” us..

Can somebody explain the Jay zhook on Ezekiel’s wheel (might as well explain the whole “Ezekiel’s wheel” title as well)

I know it sounds good on beat but what is he talking about in relation to the song :jbhmm:

Or are were they just adlibing and decided to keep it :yeshrug:

Ezekiels wheel is a vision Ezekiel has in the Bible where he describes a UFO in vivid detail.
Black Muslims teach that a mothership piloted by black people from an advanced race will come save us. They use the vision as evidence of the mothership.

The hook of the song is Jay talking from a point of higher elevation. He’s basically reached the highest level of any modern day black man. Popping his collar politely.

“Billion on me right now”

I feel you breh, but “hot like a tamale” is right up there with “I jam like Smuckers” for lazy bars. He sounds lazy on a lot of this project.

The project ain’t wack, but it’s not really dope either. Underwhelming effort for an MC that should have a a lot more in the chamber after waiting all these years.

Couldn’t even tell you what song he’s says it on.

Sound like you picked that one line out just to have something negative to say.
