Katsuyori Shibata got injured during his main event match against Kazuchika Okada at NJPW’s Sakura Genesis on April 9th. Shibata hit Okada with a stiff headbutt, causing Shibata to bleed from the forehead.

He was taken to the hospital and then diagnosed with subdural hematoma. Although he underwent successful surgery, The Wrestling Observer reported that he is still hospitalized, and his friends have said that it is unlikely he will ever be able to wrestle again. The doctor, who performed the surgery, additionally said that he would need a strict examination prior to being cleared to wrestle, “and that he’s not optimistic at all.”

@STRIGGA of Puroresu Love noted that Shibata gave an update on his blog, saying that the “right side of his body is still handicapped” and that he will need another surgery in May.

Just read about Shibata

I felt this way since I saw that 6 star omega match, these NJPW bouts going too far

Like they go from stiff to stupid, where it's just aiming for injuries to look strong

Now this dude might never wrestle again for throwing a headbutt that didn't need to be

And I'm not Mr wrestlera should be safe safe safe, but these guys are just being reckless at this point

Nakajima vs. Shiozaki was damn good. NOAH, AJPW and NJPW all have great aces.

Is NOAH doing better business now? AJPW absolutely is. I'm not sure about NOAH's finances.

No breh have you looked at the crowd attendance for the shows? It speaks for itself. All Japan is slightly doing better, but that doesn't mean anything compared to where it was. It is still bad all around.

But is it getting better? I don't watch NOAH shows. I watched that match because I heard it was good.

It's doing just as bad. More often than not they can't even get 1k at Korakuen.

And AJPW is doing marginally better. They are all still glorified indys with a "name" at this point.

You gotta drop the "can puro promotions turn things around?" talk breh, they are not going to do anything worth a damn for while. Even if they, for some miracle, get 7k for a Sumo Hall show, it wont mean much in the grand scheme of things.

It took New Japan close to 7 years to complete their turn around. All Japan hasn't even started their's yet so if you expect any big news, they are gonna take years to come.

I swear Naito is the GOAT ATM. :wow:

I saw Seikimoto and Miyahara went to a 30 min draw. I'm waiting for that Real hero update.

Breh I'm still waiting for Day 1 at Korakuen :damn:

Not a fan of them going that long though it makes sense booking wise.
