Yeah not a lot going on during this tour in general, post G1 Climax slump.

Brock/Cena kinda reminded me of this Vader/Misawa match, it's not as much of a squash but the beating Misawa takes :wow: Dude was a fukking lunatic.

From 6 minutes on.

Sacho sure did know how to take a beating :to:

His match with Vader earlier that year, at the Giant Baba Memorial show at the Tokyo Dome is one of my favorite matches ever. The elbow throwing b*stard slayed the beast for Baba while every fukking person on that building trusted him to get the job done because he was fukking Misawa and he always finds a way to make a GOAT comeback, it was beautiful :to:

The original Lesnar/Cena:

This match actually got NJPW BANNED from Sumo Hall for a couple of years due to the riot that this match caused.

Bonus Vader/Inoki brutality:

That German Suplex. :damn:

GOAT debut :pachaha:

The amount of fukkery that show had was off the fukking charts, Vader squashing Inoki was the icing on the cake

Just listened to the WON post-RAW podcast and Meltzer said he talked to Bryan about the G-1 (D-Bry had only seen the first 2 nights). He told Dave he thinks Shinsuke - an old buddy and roomate of his at the LA New Japan Dojo - might be the best wrestler in the world right now :wow: Meltzer asked him if he had seen AJ vs MiSu and DB said he hadn't, but he told Dave the greatest match of his that nobody has ever watched (because it wasn't taped :damn:) was a match against Suzuki when he was touring with New Japan.

He also said for the nth time that the most talented wrestler he's ever faced is Yugi Nagata :bryan:

A lost Bryan/Suzuki match :why: Reminds me of the stories from the territory era where dudes would let the tapes in the car in the blaring heat and melt away classic matches, or straight up erase the stuff on there so they could reuse the tape  :upsetfavre:

Interestingly, Dave mentioned on Sunday that he knows people in WWE who've said they would like to go to NJPW.

:heh: Naturally I assumed @Hollywood Hogan told him he wanted to reclaim Japan, but now I have to wonder if he was actually talking about Danielson and others from that ilk (God knows Cesaro would be excellent there).

Too bad the money isn't what it was 20 years ago, because I have a feeling guys like that would bounce to Japan and not think twice.

I think Dave was talking about wrestlers that weren't doing so good in WWE. It wouldn't shock me at all if Cesaro was one of them, dude has to be frustrated as fukk at this point.

D-Bry has a contract with New Japan whenever he wants to go there, he'd be HUGE in Japan. He was actually making a deal with them when he was fired in 2010 but WWE ended up calling him to come back before striking a deal with NJPW. At this point I've heard so many interviews from the guy I can't recall in which one he said it, but it wasn't that long ago. Maybe it was Jericho's podcast?.

Former WWE Superstar Yoshi Tatsu, who was released as part of the most recent massive talent cuts, is expected to head to New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) for a lengthy run this fall.

I'm surprised he lasted inwwe that long, Yoshi & Kenzo did good for NJPW mid carders.

I was thinking Nigel could probably do a good job on color.

If they ended up getting Kevin Kelly on play-by-play though it'd be so fukking awful :whoa:
It would probably be Corino before Nigel who with some direction is actually really good.

You just made me think about how piff a Nigel vs Okada match would be :wow:

Nigel vs. any of the top New Japan heavyweights would be crack (except Shibata, because he would die).

He could still wrestle too if he wanted. He just doesn't because he thinks everyone will be disappointed if he doesn't work the same style he used to.
