Couldn't help myself and checked what are the matches for the Final day at Sumo Hall.

Watching the pairings, it seems that Tanahashi vs Shibata will work as Block A's "semifinal", but I have NO idea what's gonna happen with Block B. Nakamura has to be favorite as a Shibata vs Shinsuke final would be big as fukk and I find it hard seeing MiSu in the final unless it's against Tana.

Thoughts? :ld:

Shinsuke's probably the front runner at this point, but I would not be surprised at all to see Naito come out of that block. I think he's going to beat Nakamura on 8/10. Naito's probably beating Anderson on the final day (giving him 10 pts), and I could absolutely see Benjamin beating Nakamura then as well (there's been a little feud bubbling there, wouldn't be surprised to see them exploit it) which would result in Naito getting the tiebreaker over Nakamura due to beating him the day before. Ibushi will lose to Suzuki, who Naito has a tiebreaker over. Takahashi will lose to Anderson, who Naito will beat on the final day to get the tiebreaker over. Tenzan forfeited and Yano's not getting to 10 either way. Naito's beaten everyone else in the block and thus will have the 10 point tiebreaker over them.

He's the only other guy I could really see going to the finals against Shibata (Nagata would be the dark horse pick, but he has 8 points after forefits, one match left, and got beat by Naito. Not happening).

That's my scenario. :yeshrug:

- G1 Climax – Block A: Tomohiro Ishii [6] beat Hirooki Goto [8] by forfeit.
- G1 Climax – Block B: Kota Ibushi

[8] beat Hiroyoshi Tenzan [6] by forfeit.
1. G1 Climax – Block B: Yuji Nagata [10] beat Yujiro Takahashi [8] (9:06) with the Exploder of Justice.
2. G1 Climax – Block B: Toru Yano [8] beat Minoru Suzuki [10] (9:26) by pinfall.
3. G1 Climax – Block B: Shelton Benjamin [10] beat Shinsuke Nakamura [10] (10:34) with the Paydirt.
4. G1 Climax – Block B: Tetsuya Naito [10] beat Karl Anderson [10] (13:11) with the Brahma Blanca.
5. G1 Climax – Block A: Lance Archer [8] beat Davey Boy Smith Jr. [10] (14:37) with the Blackout.
6. G1 Climax – Block A: Prince Devitt [10] beat Togi Makabe [10] (8:43) with the Bloody Sunday.
7. G1 Climax – Block A: Satoshi Kojima [8] beat Kazuchika Okada [9] (11:56) with a lariat.
8. G1 Climax – Block A: Hiroshi Tanahashi [11] beat Katsuyori Shibata [10] (10:56) with a small package hold.
9. Special 6 Man Tag Match: Kazushi Sakuraba, Akebono & Kota Ibushi
ddts.jpg
beat Takashi Iizuka, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI (13:25) when Sakuraba used the Sakuraba Lock on YOSHI-HASHI.
10. G1 Climax – Final: Tetsuya Naito beat Hiroshi Tanahashi (26:44) with a Stardust press.

So yes, Naito got to the finals (like I said he would) and won, but against Tanahashi, which I didn't expect given his injuries. Interestingly, Naito didn't immediately challenge Okada after his win, but instead challenged Masato Tanaka for the NEVER belt. It looks like he'll win that, keep it for a bit, and they might build to a 1/4 match between Okada and Naito. We'll see.

Yeah, G1 winner getting his title shot in the Dome again is a good look. After the build worked so well last year, might as well try it again. Not to mention given the winner, they have a hot match to build to.

G1 was overall handled INCREDIBLY well. Basically everyone comes out of it looking strong as fukk. I'm hoping the next title match is Okada-Kojima. Can't believe the wins Devitt got, Bullet Club or not, he is a legit main event heel. Dude beat Okada, Tanahashi, Makabe, and Kojima in a week :wow:

Tana vs Shibata was disappointing. I'm sure they'll have a much better match the next time they face each other.

The Finals was good, but expected more.

Good show, but I thought there were better days than this one. It feels good to be on track with puro brehs :ahh:

If they plan on doing G-1 winner vs Okada for WK, they better know that they need at least two other big matches.

As much as I like Okada vs Naito as a match, that ain't doing good business at the Dome so they better protect them and book a solid fukking card. It's time for Shinshuke and Tana to face Laughter 77 in singles matches again.

You cant doubt that that card will be solid. Besides, whos to say Devitt wont wind up with the shot by January 4th?

Devitt ain't Dome ready :whoa:

But he should have an important, career making match. That I agree with.

So apparently New Japan gave Ishii a much deserved bonus for his work in the G1 :smugdraper

Also All Japan is bringing in Low Ki (and some other guys who aren't worth mentioning) for that King's Road tournament they're running.

The stigma hasn't disappeared YET. We're taking baby steps, not trying to leap around the world in one bound. There are only two really big, fresh matches left for Okada at this point. One involves the G1 winner, the other is Okada/Nakamura. One of those will probably main event the Dome show.

Ishii deserves it. He needs to win the NEVER belt and defend it for about a year as a reward as well.

And I guess All Japan is so desperate that they decided to pay Low Ki what he was asking for. I actually MIGHT start paying attention to things other their fukkery now.

:heh: Seems to be the case.

Kind of a shame they're bringing him in after all their best Juniors have already left the company. Really I'd rather see him in Wrestle-1 or NOAH than All Japan.
