woke up earlier than usual this morning, went down stairs and flipped thru channels. just realized they show NJPW on this axstv channel. set the dvr to record a few shows, tho it looks like its shows from like 2 years ago. they had matches with gallows and anderson and that guy I see in the weird matches

Been trying to get through the 2001 1/4 show for like 3 months. Really not feeling any of it at all. The one night tournament format strikes again.

So...

Daisuke Sekimoto vs Hideki Suzuki - Big Japan Strong Heavyweight Championship 3/30 (the rematch)
(the whole show is in RealHero's GoogleDrive, my guess is he'll upload it to rutube tomorrow or Saturday, I'll post the link when it's up)

The first 5-6 minutes play exactly as their previous match early in the month that I loved. A lot of struggle for control and Suzuki trying to gain the upper hand by outsmarting the beast. But they take a different route once Hideki cheap shots Daisuke on a rope break, from them on it's more of your typical "your turn/my turn" type of match without much time to make things feel earned. This was more of a spotfest with some no selling just for the sake of getting to the next spot....having said all that, this was fun as fukk to watch. This time Korakuen is fully committed to what they are doing all the way through as they know they are getting a real winner, strikes exchanges were pretty damn vicious (Sekimoto ate 2 clean ass elbows, once trying a suicide dive and another when climbing to the top rope) and there's more sense of drama. This went 19 minutes and it's pretty much a sprint after that 6 minute mark, any flaw it has didn't bother me much because of that. Although they didn't give me the match I wanted (a condensed version of the 1st bout with a proper finish) I quickly understood they were going for something different and really got into it, even fell for a nearfall they wouldn't have gotten me in most matches. Can't wait to see Okabayashi get his turn :demonic: :blessed:

this is from 2015 I believe. the G1 cup must be a more prestigious tournament, cuz these matches so far aren't all that

Shibata-Okada should be really good. Okada has had the best title reign I've seen maybe ever.
