Isn't Dragon Gate supposed to be the #2 in Japan? Or is it DDT?

It's Dragon Gate. I'd actually be curious to see how many people they would get in that graphic. They do have the problem that they pretty much always boost up their attendance numbers for a lot of their shows like WWE does with Mania,,,but still.

That graphic also lacks a very important number, how many shows those promotions have had in during those periods.

Bryan will definitely go to NJ if he can. Punk definitely will not return to wrestling anywhere but WWE. I don't think Mauro will really mean much for NJ in America either way. He didn't before, and JR doesn't now.

The whole NJPW expansion in America is becoming such a huge deal that I'm surprised WWE is sleeping on this. They sold out the G1 events over here and if the rumors are true, "whooo boy..I think I have some serious competition"-Vince Mcmahon.

I doubt Punk going to NJPW though. Dude hates anything associated with a squared circle. Then again everybody has a price:ehh:. Bryne/Tanahashi tho:whew:

The whole New Japan expansion to the US is being overrated as fukk :heh: why can't people just enjoy and wait to see how things develop, Kidani has no plans of doing anything big. Why the fukk people are blowin this out of proportion :why:

Breh he pretty much said he wanted to create a touring talent base on the west coast, you didn't read that long transcribed interview on @reasonjp 's Twitter feed?

I did, and he said it was going to be a small touring brand whose main purpose was getting talent to send to Japan. He's doesn't want to take over anything right now, he just wants to put on a dojo and tour for a while and work from there.

Breh also talked about getting a TV deal...I agree that this whole 'WAR: NEW JAPAN VS WWE' narrative is overblown (IMO largely by people looking for clicks on Youtube) but the guy's plans are pretty damn lofty.

I have no doubt in my mind New Japan will be the next company to really strike fear in the WWE. It will take a few years, but everything takes time. 2017 is the year where the foundation is being set.

Professional wrestling is for the taken. WWE has not cemented itself.

Everyone is forgetting that NJ has tried a US expansion multiple times and it only worked for a couple of shows each time and then was just a giant money sink. Of course the G1 shows sold out. It's a unique situation for multiple reasons (West Coast instead of East, actual NJ show instead of ROH show, all the stars on two events that actually matter). The idea of a US brand won't be shyt, since it would essentially just be the gaijin who frequently work the same shows anyway with fly ins once in awhile. AKA, ROH on the West Coast. AKA, shytty PWG.

Like, NJPW has literally been doing random US shows since the 70s. It's really no different than when they'd do random shows in Italy or Brazil in the 70s and 80s.

It's different now because they have English commentary, an English TV show (and looking for a better deal), and the owner has said countless times that they are looking to be #1.
