  • George Caroll (US Director of New Japan Pro Wrestling), was in Orlando and announced that the G1 Special Shows, will have PPV quality shows and will not be like the "Road To...." shows

  • The June Dominion Show, will be the setup for the July shows

  • A TV DEAL is also being worked on

Intriguing...I've been thinking about getting tickets to the Saturday show for a while now and this might be the tipping point for me. :patrice:

That's a cool list to go off but I'd say add some Hansen in there if you have time. Especially vs Kawada from 2-28-93 and vs Kobashi from 7-29-93. Both of those are probably top 10 (at least) Kobashi and Kawada matches, and that covers a LOT of ground :wow:

93 AJPW was just :ohlawd:
Who put together that list :picard: No Hansen, no Williams, no Gordy, no Vader, no JUMBO!?!?!?!

Not to mention, watching Misawa/Kawada without seeing New Generation v Jumbo's OG's singles and tags is an absolute disservice as you miss the genesis of the story cues and callbacks that would define that whole generation.

I think I started similarly (almost a decade back now :why:), just checking the main Kawada/Misawa/Kobashi matches etc. I remember thinking all were fantastic matches but seeing everything in context does add an awful lot. As i say though all those matches could be seen cold and people would still probably love them.

True, but something that does for perception of that style is thinking that movefests = great, as when you don't see where it started you don't really grasp the progression of the style. I did the same, and was blown away by how different the style was in '90 versus the late 90's. When you watch it in order you see the building blocks fall into place step by step.:ohlawd:

@Apex forget that list family. Go to http://theditch.biz/chron.html start at 1990, and get the experience in full.

You should go breh. They booked a big ass building (it can hold more than 10k I think) and they want to make a statement so I'm pretty sure they are put on the biggest show possible (regardless if they have a smaller set up to fit 5-7k people in there). You might actually see a big singles match, which is almost unheard of for an overseas show. And even if they don't have one, you'll probably see Naito and his Ingobernables have a big showcase tag match and whole bunch of fun shyt. New Japan still are fun as fukk to watch if you can take away the :russell: booking, and the US shows are perfect to block any of lazy Gedo antics.

@Apex gonna end up watching every single important match regardless and then he's gonna re watch the classics and be :ohhh: at the callbacks. That's what we all did and still do to this day.

It's a good list to start with. Sure, it lacks the most fun feud of King's Road (Jumbo army vs Misawa's friends) but If he loves the style as much as most puro fans do, then he'll start watching everything and anything. No need to rush imo

Has there been any news on Ditch at all? I STILL have nightmares that the sites won't be there one day when I check :lupe:

Luckily I'm sure almost everything from the AJPW side of Ditch has been uploaded to the AJPW archive

HUSTLE 2

HUSTLE 2, brehs. shyt really starts becoming HUSTLE. Takada becomes Generalissimo Takada and forms his monster arm of PRIDE fighters and Dustin Rhodes, young Ishii, an ECW vs FMW match, Dusty is back, PRIDE vs Hashimoto/Kawada, a Choshu promo set to Papa Roach. Their next show has The Outsiders and Mick Foley

I gave you an update a while ago breh, even @ you in this thread and you dapped the post :dead:

@Honga Ciganesta I finally got some confirmation on what happened to Ditch

May I suggest editing the link to Ditch out of the thread. It's one thing for folks on Youtube to get taken down, but Ditch is a resource going back for years that we don't want to get fukked with.

As far as what he's doing, he's working in DC a capcity that makes for another good reason for his sites not to be tossed around on the public boards here.

I got that at PWO from someone that, up until last year at least, was still talking to Ditch.

you didn't know about Ditch's sites???

We failed you breh, I'm sorry :mjcry:

Would watching the matches that these guys watch/review from 1990 onward be enough? The list that @Don Ibiza Ibrahimovic sent is way too long and would take me forever to get to the 6/94 Misawa-Kawada match (that's kinda the benchmark for me).

Yes it will, don't worry breh.

As I said, if you get into the style and love the matches you'll eventually end up in ditch's site and watch everything regardless. But as a first time watcher, that list is more than enough to get a feel at what is going on and catch some of the nuance and callbacks of the big classic matches.

Not sure if Stephen (@stro 's friend Griimas :pachaha:) and Parv had it in their list but if 3/6/94 is your benchmark, I also recommend watching the 92' and 93' title matches Misawa and Kawada had :salute:
