Superstar
The final show for the group stages took place in a packed Yamagata in front of 479 people as we now know who is heading to the playoffs. Kinda.
Red Stars A:
Maika-12 Points
The most dominant performer in 5Star history? I can't seem to recall anyone going completely undefeated in their block in any of the previous 12 tournaments (this is a totally different format than in previous years to be fair) but nevertheless, Maika ends with a perfect 6-0 with a victory over Manami, not that the result mattered since she was the first star to advance. A dominant 1A.
Natsupoi-9 Points
With a grueling draw over Hazuki, Poi moves to second place and will advance as 1B but her story with Hazuki is far from over.
Hazuki-7 Points
An incredible effort stopped by time. Hazuki ends her tournament at 7 but no doubt she wanted a definite win over Poi which would've guaranteed her a spot in the playoffs. Still, the White belt dreams for Hazuki continue.....
Konami-6 Points
Konami ends her tournament with a worse-than-expected 6 points but softening up Yunamon for Ruaka had to be worth it.
Manami-5 Points
The young future Ace of Sendai Girls losses in a strong effort to Maika and ends with 5 but no doubt she gained so much off of this and opened herself up to a new fanbase on a bigger platform. Manami should be proud
Ruaka-3 Points
Ruaka managed to crush any hopes of Yunamon getting on the board, getting the last laugh on her AGAIN.
Yuna Mizumori-0 Points
The poor pineapple, worked her butt off in every match and couldn't get a single result and worse yet is losing AGAIN to her biggest opp in Stardom currently. Here's hoping the fall is kinder to her.
Red Stars B:
Mayu Iwatani-10 Points
With a dramatic win over Tomoka Inaba, Mayu has secured the top spot in the block and becomes the block's 1A and will face Natsupoi on the 28th.
AZM, Mei Seira, and Tomoka Inaba-8 Points
Let's get this out of the way, an unbreakable 3-way tie scenario in this tournament actually happened and it's kind of unhinged! AZM lost to Iida to stay at 8, Mei beat Tam, and Tomoka lost to Mayu so the worst case scenario for any of these has actually happened. Now we're going to get a mini round robin on the 28th to determine a true winner and that winner will face Maika in the quarterfinals.
Momo Watanabe-4 Points
Momo Watanabe ends her tournament on a disappointing 4 points but with a NJPW Strong Women's Championship bout coming up on the 30th, I don't think she's losing sleep.
Saya Iida-4 Points
Saya's defeat of AZM really created a messy web that Red Stars B now sees itself in. Disappointing results wise but Iida showed an exceptional performance. Here's to a better fall season for Gori.
Tam Nakano-0 Points
Tam actually finished out with no points. Just in the mud for the Twilight Dream and with her bum leg and broken heart, she's not going to have much left heading into her World of Stardom Championship match against Natsuko Tora on finals day.
Blue Stars A:
Syuri and Starlight Kid-8 Points
Victory over Miyu Amasaki brought Syuri to first place above Saori Anou and with how everything played out with Saori and Kid, that led to Syuri being 1A. Securing 2nd place as 1B in a must win scenario, Starlight Kid was able to defeat Xena in a heated match but her eligibility was only possible due to Koguma's shock victory over Saori.
Saori Anou-7 Points
After such a strong start and near close finish, Saori's tournament ends thanks to a sneaky bear and without her being able to control her destiny, it slipped away due to SLK's victory. Still, a great tournament showing for Saori.
Koguma and Anna Jay-6 Points
The sneaky bear got 2 biggest wins against Syuri and now against Saori, ultimately preventing Saori to making it through and for her, that's enough. It's always fun having her in these kinds of tournaments. Meanwhile, Anna Jay played for pride and ended her tournament with a win over Koguma and 6 points. I hope she can stick around a bit longer, seems like she's really taken to Stardom.
Xena-4 Points
Despite a great showing in terms of matches, this wasn't the best results wise and losing to Kid was not ideal in the slightest, even if it was keeping Saori Anou. A Touch of Thunder will see better days and I expect a busy fall for her.
Miyu Amasaki-3 Points
For her first 5Star, Miyu gained a ton from this and that all culminated in a stellar match against Starlight Kid that ended in a draw.
Blue Stars B:
Saya Kamitani***-8 Points***
Saya secured first place of the block with a victory over Suzu Suzuki, so the match against Hanan was really to prevent Hanan from advancing. It did not work. Saya becomes 1A and will face Starlight Kid.
Suzu Suzuki and Hanan-7 Points
HE DID IT AGAIN. We have ANOTHER unbreakable tie scenario heading into the playoffs, tho this situation is a lot less complicated. Suzu defeating Ranna put Hanan on the bubble and in a must win scenario. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how you see it) for Hanan, beating Kamitani tied her with Suzu and now, a final deciding singles match will take place to determine who will move on and face Syuri.
Saki Kashima-6 Points
Kashima got the last laugh on Thekla, who was still very much alive, and eliminated her from contention while sticking to 2 H.A.T.E. members in this tournament. A fine result all things considered. Please play Fist of the North Star 10! It's getting rave reviews! Thank you.
Risa Sera-6 Points
A DQ loss to Thekla all but sealed Risa's fate as that practically eliminated her from contention. A disappointing tournament for Risa results wise but I have a feeling she'll be back to fight H.A.T.E. in the fall.
Ranna Yagami-4 Points
For a rookie who wasn't even supposed to be in this, Ranna Yagami more than stepped up and has gained a ton from this tournament, including a shock win over the 2024 Cinderella Hanan, arguably the upset of the tournament. It was never about the results so much about her destination. She should be proud.
Thekla-4 Points
A disappointing tournament for Toxic Spider in terms of results, her opponents definitely felt the H.A.T.E. and she will for sure have a busy fall.
Group stages are complete and now there's 2 more shows left! We have the playoffs and final World and Future of Stardom Championship tag preview taking place at Shinjuku FACE August 28th at 7:00pm JST/3:00am PST on Stardom World!
