A Goto title run now would be fukking wild :russ:

New Japan needs to find their new Tanahashi before they give Goto his Nakanishi "than you" IWGP title reign

I don’t fukking understand what Gedo is doing

I thought Umino had next :gucci:

Is it just bad booking or he didn’t live up to the hype?

Vince would’ve had him win 2 g1s back to back until he got the right reaction
Gedo been doing stupid shyt for like 8 years breh :mjlol: people just let it slide because they loved the foreigners that were getting pushed and the high quality of the matches.

Each block has 1 more show before they go to the knock out stage of the tourney (top 3 of each block qualify, first seed gets a bye for the quarterfinals and goes directly to the semis). Standings are:

Block A:
1. Zack Sabre Jr. [12]
2. Tetsuya Naito [10]
-. "King of Darkness" EVIL [10]
4. SANADA [8]
-. Shingo Takagi [8]
-. Jake Lee [8]
-. Great-O-Khan [8]
8. Gabe Kidd [6]
-. Shota Umino [6]
10. Callum Newman [4]

Block B:
1. Jeff Cobb [10]
-. David Finlay [10]
-. Ren Narita [10]
4. Konosuke Takeshyta [8]
-. Yuya Uemura [8]
-. Hirooki Goto [8]
-. Yota Tsuji [8]
8. HENARE [6]
-. Oleg Boltin [6]
-. El Phantasmo [6]

These are the final matches before going to the playoffs:

I have no clue what are the tie breakers for each group so I could be completely off on these predictions :heh: but just at a glance, seems to me:

-Block A is gonna be ZSJ, Naito and probably the winner of Shingo vs Lee.

-Block B is gonna have more than 3 people at 10 points and I have no clue who gets through via tie-breakers. I'd be surprised if both Tsuji and Uemura are left out though, at least 1 of them should be making the quarterfinals. As retarded as Gedo, leaving both of them out of the knockout stage would be a new low. Takeshyta should make it too, but there's also a chance Tony asked for him to be released sooner so he get some rest before All In.

ZSJ beat Sanada in Sanada's hometown, apparently the first person to do that in over five years. He finishes with 14 points in Block A, winning his block by four points. Is this finally the year that ZSJ gets to win the IWGP title??

Also shout out to Umino, competed in the G1 hurt and even though he didn't advance, he ended our torture by eliminating EVIL.

So with the tie breakers, Great O-Khan went ahead of Naito (both tied with 10 points) and qualified as 3rd in the Block A. I guess Naito gotta be really banged up because having Shingo vs OK couldn't be the real plan for the quarter finals :dead:

If he does win it, I'd hope he does it before WK.

Maybe even Gedo got tired of watching Naito's washed ass get out there and botch the Destino every match

Takeshyta advancing to the G1 playoffs! Didn't think they would do it since he's not a New Japan guy. When's the last time an outsider advanced in the G1?

It's a bad comp to make because they stopped doing semis (let alone a bigger knockout stage like quarter finals) for more than a decade and the way Gedo booked, there was zero chance an outsider was going to reach the Finals straight out of the group stage. Plus they didn't book a lot of people from other promotions anyways, Marufuji would've been the "biggest" name that could've reached a semifinal if that G-1 had that instance (but it didn't).

In the 2000s it was very common for people outside of New Japan to reach semis. Takayama and Akiyama even reached the Finals.
