Just finished the Sendai show and Honma vs Ishii was a great match. Nagata vs Nakamura ended rather abruptly and then they had Nagata's wife present a trophy to Nakamura after Nagata lost, is there going to be a 2nd match between them? :patrice:

I saw something similar to this years ago.

My homeboy showed me like "Watch this!" :jawalrus:

I was :ehh:

"So it's all in Japanese?" :rudy:

"Why is the ref wearing a heat proof samurai costume?" :dahell:

"Why are the ropes just barbed wire?":krs:

"They're just going to fukk each other up with lighting tubes?" :mindblown:

"Why is there a countdown clock running?" :ohhh:

"5,4, 3, 2... :lupe:"

and then the ring explodes. Hands down the nuttiest wrestling match I ever saw.

I wonder if knowing Japanese would affect my enjoyment of puroresu :patrice:

I've been watching a ton of 80's and 90's Lucha lately for a project, and understanding what the announcers are saying diminishes A LOT of the viewing experience. There's been a ton of great matches that still feel :ld: to me because of how fukking atrocious the commentary is in Lucha (it never fails, motherfukkers make the current RAW crew look like great in comparison).

Although I've never seen a Lucha match called with the excitement good puro matches normally have.

I say we don't need to understand Japanese to know that they are SO INVESTED in the matches. Shinpei Nogami should win all the "Best commentator" awards just for that. You know they aren't talking about realities or shooting the shyt about things that have nothing to do with the match.

And yes, lucha commentary is horrible. Bunch of old guys talking with lots of clichés. Even the introductions. "Él lucha por la paz y la justicia".:comeon:

Not gonna lie, even not knowing spanish lucha can be brutal to watch (remember Los Talibanes). Though that horrendously long LLL vs AAA storyline would have made more sense to me

Man I'm glad I don't know a word of Spanish now because I've always enjoyed Lucha commentary, I like the sound of the language I guess. I'm suprised to learn that they all suck (even worse than Raw). What's so bad about it exactly? Do they call the moves and get into storylines during big wager matches? Or do they just ramble on about nothing? I've always wondered about the content of commentary in both Lucha and Puro. I've watched a good amount of M-Pro and Joshi that didn't have any commentary and it's a pretty different experience, not terrible by any means though, interesting to hear every strike and crowd reaction.

The commentary that annoys me the most (even more than current WWE) is Nitro where you'll have an awesome spot fest going on with Rey/Juvi etc and they talk about the NWO exclusively, they won't even call near falls. Tenay helped out a bit when he came up but still, Heenan talking about nothing while Eddie is doing work :upsetfavre:
