again, running a business is too strong of a phrase for yall on this forum. in this day in age, not all businesses require u to be doing jumping jacks across the city.

ok, example - imagine ur a dude who happens to speak 4 popular languages fluently. what could u do with such a skill? besides being a translator?

again, if ur mind goes blank here, then, u shouldnt speak on business at all. at all!!
You know why a lot of businesses fail?... accounting. That is probably one of the top 3 hurdles in starting a business. And when most people can't keep $500 for a rainy day, it's pretty far-fetched to believe they can handle the financial aspects of running a business. While I agree a LOT more people should look into starting businesses, I also believe a LOT of people should avoid it.

A company like google shouldn't be interested in diversity or diversity sake.
Any program that shifts focus however slight away from ability can be looked at as "lowering the bar"... and the fact that these programs are being put in place to combat racism does not change that.

edit::jbhmm:But you will be accused of hating black people if you see it this way.
:whoo:dirty game
But the idea of diversity in the workplace isn't about "diversity for diversity's sake". It's about hiring diverse people with the same qualifications and ability as a the majority. The only way you'd be "lowering the bar" in this case is if you believed other races were simply intellectually inferior. And if you ARE skipping over more qualified white candidates in the name of diversity, you're doing it wrong.

Lol...where you hear that from?

Multiple times per week someone comes on CNBC & Bloomberg over the last 2yrs... usually a white woman talking about toxic "bro culture" where they can't get venture funding. And then a white woman will say they need more minorites as well...but mostly focus on females.

Didn't hear just assumed that they were liberal cause how silicon valley usually voted. Seems I was dead wrong your 100% right on the bro culture attitude though.

There would be no need for quotas, if people were solely judge on qualifications. The problem with Silicon Valley is that it's too much of an Old Boys Club than a place where the best minds exchange ideas and develop strategies.

I don't understand, is Silicon Valley only white guys? Nah. One of my uncles was president of technology at a Silicon Valley based company, he had white dudes working under him, and his partner was some Chinese guy. He runs his own outfit now. Google CEO is an Indian. MS CEO is an Indian. Where is all this white domination? I'm not seeing it.

You deal with white supremacy like every other non white but you do not deal with racism. It's not just institutional, it's in every fukking sense of life. When you deal with racism, sometimes you don't even know what racism is. That said, some nikkas disgusted.

You know what's racism, when your own "Black" people are prejudice again you for unknown reasons.

Yeah bro I honestly can't disrespect people who've actually faced legit racism by claiming I have. I grew up in a diverse ass and liberal ass place and my parents immigrated here already with degrees and jobs. All I get are the random security checks at airports :russ:

I'm not trynna visit the South tho :whoa: don't know what them old ass white people will think when they see my muslim lookin ass :heh:

You believe this is what these programs aim to do?:francis:
You truly believe that if under qualified applicants come through the outreach program google is going to just say fukk it and deal with the PR storm?:francis:

The absence of something does not automatically mean discrimination :hubie:
most minorities are not in school for STEM majors... with 70%> of Stem grads being white males... I'm not surprised by Silicon Valley's racial make up at all.

Side note: I love how we stopped considering Asians minorities when they became economically successful:russ: A few post in here would make no sense if we did.
