According to GlobalEconomy.com, Jamaica is ranked second out of 177 countries on the Human Flight and Brain Drain Index, which measures the extent to which people leave their country for better opportunities overseas.

The country can't keep people that are born there because no one can make money in Jamaica that isn't connected.

Who leaves a family and friends and an island paradise for NYC, London, and Toronto?

The 21 families that have controlled Jamaica since colonization don't care.

A lot of post colonial countries are still have their "Democratic" governments and major businesses controlled by the families and associates of the OG colonizers.

These Parasites are in every country

Am I off or isn’t birth rates declining around the entire world? This isn’t a problem specific to jamaica. People are no longer having 8 or 9 kids because they don’t need extra hands working the farm. It’s industrialization, birth control, low sperm count and social media that is causing less kids being born imo.
...and more common sense

They are leaving the country far too much.

The Jamaican diaspora is almost as big as the native population.

they need to go home and fix it up

2 million Jamaicans outside of Jamaica and 2.8 inside

that’s ridiculous

The problem with 'going home' is that the minute you touch back a yard, you got a million people peeking over your fence wanting to ask/borrow/steal/kill you for what you have, especially if you retired or been out of the country for a minute. Those that made it comfortable enough for themselves abroad feel more safe to just visit sporadically and stay abroad, especially if they have to come back and flex their foreign earnings to build a life back home, in terms of acquiring land, building a house/business, etc.
Bad mind, yes, but the probability of getting ran up on in the middle of the night within the first year of you moving back is a high deterrent for those who don't have it like that in terms of protection, notoriety, so imagine the common law abiding citizen moving back into that? I've people I know on both ends of that spectrum currently back home in Jamaica and they both complaining about their safety in terms of folk assuming they just 'got it' like that.

It's not rocket science, shyt is expensive around the world.

It's smart people making good decisions and not taking on unnecessary debt.

That's actually alarming because it means those with sense are not breeding and many with no sense are.

This ain't fun time. Which is scary, because we know what the vibe is leading to.

Have we seen places where the birth rate was in the gutter and bounced back?

Kazakhstan

Why did it go down?

A lot of reasons, a lot of them having to do with the USSR, then Russia, and what they were doing to the environment.

What brought it back up?

Economic opportunity.

When folks can get jobs, they stay in the country and have kids.

When a good man got his job, his ride, his house, and all his stuff squared away- that's when he can start thinking about family.

Same thing is happening in Korea, China, Japan, Europe, etc.

All these "rich" countries
