America only received like 4% of all the slaves during the entire slave trade. The vast majority of the plantations in America were small with only 1-4 slaves per household. Most slave owners were small family farms. Large plantations were very rare in the USA . So no they were not just taking slaves up out of the USA and sending them to the Caribbean, because most small plantation owners in America had no connection with the Carribean slave trade or slave owners.

On the other hand 90%+ of all the slaves during the slave trade went to the Caribbean, Central and South America to work on large plantations with hundreds if not thousands of slaves. Most of the slaves taken to the Caribbean were worked to death so they had to constantly replenish slaves by buying new ones from West and Central Africa. Jamaica was run by England. America was not run by England. American slave owners may have purchased slaves from time to time from the Carribean slave owners, but slaves were not just being transsported back and forth like that.

South America, Caribbean etc, the whites could easily be outnumbered, so they were much rougher to enforce dominance. Plus it was often sugar plantations down there which are notorious for being difficult environments even with less abusive owners. They just used them up and got new Africans....so the Blacks down there retain more "Africanness" just because they were constantly importing people.

I'd bet most ADOS comes from stock that arrived between 1619 and 1750 while those in Latin Am/Caribbean would have been more towards the end as the earlier Blacks mostly got killed or just died from disease, overwork etc.

Your key phrase was "before sending them to North America." So you are referring to slaves who had arrived in the Caribbean directly from Africa. Those slaves had never been in the USA so they were not transporting them back and forth between the USA and the Caribbean like the poster stated.

My family is Jamaican all of you guys are on point on what you are saying. Im still reading through the thread but everything has been on point. They live in a bubble usually only living in NY, Jersey, PA and just judge Black America from a few states. And even then its plenty of hard working middle class and well off Black Americans throughout there too. However alot of them never travel or venture to other parts of the Midwest or the South and network and communicate with other Black Americans.
