You see that spike of murders in the late 70's? That's the CIA arming and drugging up kids to fight a political war on the streets.
That battle is over. But the weapons and culture is created, left paired with the people in the ruins of their old towns.
Jamaica is one of how many places around the world that the U.S. spent millions to destabilize when they feared it would become communist, and zero dollars once the red scare had passed and none of the nations issues involved them.
Immigration is America's reckoning.
Go to barbados instead. Better weather too

Not only that, the number of missing and never found people. If that is added to the stats Jamaica's murder rate would be at least 25% higher.
Have a relative working in jamaica for a few years now (he not jamaican) and he was telling me the scariest thing about jamaica now is not the gang warfare or garrison politics, which you can easily avoid by staying away from certain places and people, but contract killings.
Issues with regular people over man/woman, car, land, money etc can easily get you killed cause it's easy for regular people to hire a hitman to take you out. It don't cost alot plus there are alot of dudes who don't mind knocking someone off for some change

hell no..100k, you have millionares filty rich in certain parts...people that make Usain Bolt look poor, with lambos yatchs etc..kingston jamaica is expensive, you have poor areas but if you go to Norbrook or areas in the Hills there are mansions...this goes for certain areas around the country...jamaica has ultra rich and ultra poor, a much smaller middle class than USA has in its shrinking middle class
