How old we talking breh? You dont start out redlining either but you bum the 3.5 to 4.5 then 5.5 maybe 6.0 mph.. See how your body feel after a couple weeks, then you will see the body adjust and you can go 7.5 to 8.5 mph.. Depending on age and weight you should be good there to get the results you need, you do that for a few 45 sec to a minute rounds and you will be good to go.

I kind of gave up preaching health to people
still walking around ignoring high blood pressure/sugar doing the same bullshyt they use to in their 20's
do not wait until it's too late and the damage is done.

regular visit to the doctor for blood work
(take meds if you have to)
limit or completely cut out sugar/alcohol/saturated fats
get to moving, walk, run, jog, do whatever just keep moving
get good sleep
avoid stress

HEALTH

Especially as black men. We simply cannot eat like we used to eat. Learning how to cook becomes essential if you're single, and if you have a gf/wife make sure that she's not dumping salt into your food. I hate the fact that black people have leaned so far into the "seasoning" trope and think dumping salt or garlic seasoning (with salt) makes food good. Some salt and butter is fine but good cooks rely on real spices and seasoning. Garlic, ginger, onions, thyme, rosemary, lemon, etc.

Damn dude was a world class athlete and died in his 40s from high blood pressure :francis:

I saw on one of Gilbert arenas podcasts they were talking about how when pro athletes retire they don't really know what to do with life.. they've been playing ball, games and practices daily since age 5... now they have all this free time alot of em sit around, eat, drink alcohol...

I'm not saying that's what he was doing but just because you've been in shape your whole life doesn't mean you can get reckless with your diet and body..

Dangerous game, especially if you black

There's also the fact that some people can be in shape and still have high blood pressure :yeshrug:

That was a study of people who were young (20s) and currently active and a lot still had hypertension.

Diet and exercise are important, but some people are just prone to BP problems regardless.

But what makes it so prevalent in Us (black folks) though ? We ain't doing nothing different than any other Race...

genetics, we don't have the billions in research to loko more deeply into it but I wouldn't be shocked if salt affects us more than other races. Kind of like how we are more likely be lactose intolerant than other races and also get sickle cell
