Ja Morant takes a shot at the media’s apparent MVP-bias for Jokic (“it’s obvious [who] they want”)

So why is OP talking about Jokic when Embiid is number one here :patrice:

You seriously think he’s directing this at either Embiid or Giannis when looking at their team’s regular season record and seeding?

Glad players callin it out. Jokic a great player and he carryin that team big this season without Murray or MPJ but these cacs and cacalytics OD wit they shyts and stay movin goal post. If Luka ain't show up fat af to start this season these same cacs would be tryna push his MVP narrative too :martin:

The majority of the folks who vote for MVP don't even get into cacalytics like that. They're sheep and follow whatever narrative is the hottest and look at box score numbers. Goalposts always move with who's MVP, it's always been the case, because it's all narrative based. Where was this energy when Westbrook won MVP on a 6th seed all because he averaged a triple double?

Jokic isn't the top runner so why attack him? He's talking about a narrative being pushed for someone (he's "calling out" but not naming names lol) to win yet it's Embiid who's the most likely to win according to that standing.

Westbrook won it being 6th in the conference :francis:

Ja Morant was a big fan of Russell Westbrook growing up and is still defending his childhood favorite despite competing against him now.

Morant spoke about Westbrook ahead of Wednesday night’s game between his Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets and praised Westbrook.

“I still feel like he’s highly disrespected,” Morant told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “People take his play for granted. I mean, he averaged a triple-double for the last three or four years and I’m pretty sure they see what he’s doing this year, but it’s still the same thing. I just love that he still just goes out and plays and handles his business and doesn’t worry about it.”
I bet Ja thought he deserved MVP that season too, as a 6th seed. Where the same energy Ja?!

No lie told. We see wasup

I’ve never seen so many random ass advanced analytics to support a player.
With every passing season there's going to be new and more information on how we measure the game, so it only makes sense there's going to be "random ass advanced analytics" to support a player. I've seen the same type of analytics used for Embiid too, so don't act like this is something that is entirely centered around Jokic. But like I said above, the voting panel don't even use analytics like that. They vote almost purely by narrative, and it doesn't take much to sway them, as most of them don't have time to watch every game of every team, let alone dig deep into stats to have an accurate opinion.

It's ridiculous that Jokic is having one of the GOAT seasons and nxggas first thought is how there's this agenda to get him the MVP. Every single muh'fukken MVP awarded has been because of an agenda. Every. Single. One.

He’s not lying. There’s been an obvious Jokic push by the media that goes beyond the standard look what he’s doing. It’s almost like a collective effort to MAKE him the MVP.
What the hell are you talking about?

The campaign for Jokic's MVP season last year was the quietest in recent memory, and this season it's even quieter. He was a forgotten man for half the season. It was all about Steph, KD, DeRozan, Embiid etc before it was even about him. In relative comparison to MVP campaigns of the past, there's barely been any noise for him, at all.

The criteria isn't consistent so why all the new crying now

The criteria hasn’t changed. Earlier on in the season when everyone justified placing Steph > KD in the MVP race they argued that he had:

  • The better team record
  • Won the head-to-head matchup and outperformed him in their game
  • And “got MVP chants in his own arena”

And it took a near two-month long shooting slump to wrestle Steph out of that top spot in the MVP voting ladder

Well now Booker has the best team record in the league... he just dropped 49 points on Jokic and the Nuggets on the road in a win... and he received thunderous MVP chants in Jokic’s own arena

According to the people who had Steph as the leading MVP candidate earlier on in the season, there should be no question that Booker should be ahead of Jokic in the MVP race as of now
