With that said, like I always say. People give the majors shyt, but truth is. Everyone, including the artists, are only looking out for their own bank account.

Meg was like “damn they wanna give me 10k for rapping this wack shyt? Bet, suckers”. Fast fwd and she’s like, what I meant to say was…:dame:

As for J Prince, he was the first person I’ve seen who had life insurance shyt in contracts. They’re all wolves.

I think the only people who’ll do this nicely are people whose main business is not a label and just pure music enthusiasts who just love music like certain indie labels.

They just getting what's owed to them.

She makes some solid points, but it really shouldn't be an ongoing discussion, honor your contract until it's completed and move on.

As far as 1501 goes, focus on finding the next Meg and get that bread

She gotta honor her contracts brodie. Lol. Simple as that. U can’t just say “fukk it” after u blow up. It don’t work that way.
These are both great points, I won't argue against honoring a contract. I don't know the ins and outs of the deal, and I'm surprised they haven't just been bought out at this point

You can't both sides shyt like this breh, in the music industry the people making the music are making the least money. Record labels don't do nearly as much as they did in the past to build artists.

This is a situation where they gave her 10k and sat back not even doing the bare minimum to build her up as an artist. Then when someone else steps in and helps her blow, they try to stop her from fulfilling her contract by keeping her from releasing albums so they can keep eating off her singles.

No one knows the exact contract but this is typical of these lower level labels. They eat off discovering talent, said talent finding a bigger label to blow them up, and they stay latched on until the contract is completed. Ma$e and fivio are topic right now because of the same thing. Ma$e discovers fivio, pitches him to a bigger label and he gets paid when fivio does.

Buyouts are usually tricky with these deals because generally the buyout is based on how big the artist has become vs what they were when the artist started. Meg is only 2 albums into her career so she'll likely deal with them for another 2 to 3 albums.

Meg has beaten them in court a FEW times. All this “honor your contract talk” is pretty much deaded because according to the courts that EXACTLY what she’s done.
Yeah, that's why unless we see the paperwork, her saying "beat me in court, not in the comments" is great lol

None of my friends who work at majors make great money.

The owners and CEOs make major money, but so do owners and CEOs in any major company :dahell:

This is true but honestly I still understand her side more than 300. Hot girl summer exploded and she didn't get a release date or real promo until roc nation stepped in to manage her.

And it sounds like they're holding her up from fulfilling the contract, that's why they're talking about her releasing unapproved projects with previously released songs. Like they're deliberately keeping her from releasing projects so she can't get out of the contract.
If she is not releasing label approved projects and music then she is the one not fufilling her contract. The label has to sign off on it if you want it to count. If you want to release what you want when you want then go indy and dont sign to a label.

How roc nation gonna take they checks. They have a contract. They would be suing the shyt outta roc nation. Can’t no manager step in and take the labels checks.

Managers collect money all the time. Roc nation collects all the money from her touring and also got her endorsement deals worth millions and the label is owed a cut of all of that per contract which roc nation hasnt paid yet. And Carl is suing her over it.

They keep losing in court so obviously they aren't doing business in good faith. This isn't a case of her releasing low quality projects, they're just trying to keep her under contract perpetually

they haven't lost in court. The contract is still enforced and as far as I know the case isnt settled. She just "won" the ability to release her music in the meantime while the case is ongoing.

They are fighting to keep her from releasing projects and arguing that whatever she releases shouldn't count towards fulfilling her contract, courts said she can release projects and those projects do count so yes they are losing.

Courts are siding with her because the label probably don't have a good reason why these projects shouldn't be released.

Obviously I'm not talking about every individual working at the labels are making more than the artist. The labels make the vast majority of money off sales, features, and shows without working nearly as hard as the artist.
