I’m 1000% pro-artist but you can’t expect a record label to want to renegotiate after a project performs moderately well just because the artist is on the way to becoming a star. Yes, she is the one writing her songs but I’m sure she didn’t pay for the mixing/mastering, producers, photo shoots/videos and marketing. A label isn’t going to want to renegotiate when the artist hasn’t shown a track record of being profitable yet. It’s simple business.

Also, as someone that knows several artists with deals, if they really gave her a 40% profit sharing deal, that’s really good.

This isn’t to say they couldn’t be ripping her off. I’m assuming 1501 is a production deal with 300 as the record label so they could easily be withholding the true value of how much money she’s actually entitled to but she’s not gonna know that without an audit.

This is true but honestly I still understand her side more than 300. Hot girl summer exploded and she didn't get a release date or real promo until roc nation stepped in to manage her.

And it sounds like they're holding her up from fulfilling the contract, that's why they're talking about her releasing unapproved projects with previously released songs. Like they're deliberately keeping her from releasing projects so she can't get out of the contract.

With this situation it just makes sense to let the courts handle it, but Carl and J Prince refuse to do that and it's because the courts ain't been in their favor. The fact is Meg is the only person 1501 has that's making them money. They don't want her to go nowhere but they ALSO don't want to renegotiate more favorable terms for her either.

Roc nation probably found a loophole, whether it is through concerts and appearances to make money off/with Megan, and she is probably working that way now instead of focusing on releasing albums where she doesn't see much of the profit.

Otherwise her label should be easily able to take her to court and win.
