Jay and Nas had personal history and problems behind it.
-Stop reaching. Street beef/hip hop beef all have personal reasons for happening & they're not the same. Jay/Nas was about Jay wanting everyone to recognize him as king of NY. LL had beefs that were just about wax, like Canibus.
LL and Canibus started over some rap shyt but their beef became very personal very quickly.
Cole and Kendrick have none of that.
The idea of having a rap “beef” over who’s “number one” is come corny twitter shyt people made up.

-Jay/Nas wasn't Ja/50, they could be in the same room & wouldn't shyt happen, they competed for the top spot. LL/Canibus catching feelings after the fact doesn't change it started trying to prove who's better.
-Kendrick been saying from day one he wanted to be the best & he's name dropped everybody in the process. His energy isn't new.
-Maybe you wanna call it competition instead of rap beef but it's always been part of hip hop. People have always tested each other for the acknowledgement of their fans & peers.
Again. Jay and nas had personal history. Literal messy personal life shyt to be mad at each other over.
It was not about proving who’s better at first, It was some ego shyt. Still a situation where they had a personal interaction and they felt disrespected by the other.
