I was crazy critical of the first couple albums.

But in all honesty, with this new album, there aren't many MC's who are making better music than Cole right now. He's kinda made a statement with this album. A standard's been set.

The standard is GKMC. FHD is good but below that.

Huge KRIT Stan and even though I think Cadillactixa is his best album to date cole got him on this one. Need krit to make something like return of 4eva again :feedme:
Yeah cole improved. I still think krit has more talent and should be at Coles level popularity wise but cole is definitely here to stay. I've seen him live 3 times so I support his movement.

Edit: like for instance the vent is one of my favorite krit songs and songs period. It's very powerful and hits me each time like its the first time I've heard it. Be free is j Coles version of that for me. I wish he put it on the album I want as many people as possible to hear it and it's one of his best tracks

imma still crack sleep jokes on that nikka tho :lolbron:

Fat white dudes that talk about music like this have no business speaking on something that relates to black males, he's an outsider trying to review something that is outside his world. I hate people like this, 10 years ago he's the type of person that would say Aesop rock or Sage Francis is better than Nas.

People like this are the worst :camby:

I like the album but this criticism is a little bogus, the whole, "I can't relate. He can't relate."

People can relate to all sorts of stories and words from other people, it's sorta what propels most entertainment, that empathy and identifying with something. shyt, on the surface I can't relate to white ad execs from the 1960s but I'll be damned if I can't feel the existential pain of Don Draper. And even with music my mom has never had her house foreclosed but but I get how hard that was for Cole on "Apparently"

Cole obviously had you identify with his lyrics and songs and it didn't for Fantano. Just say you disagree with his opinion.

he would be, but every time he releases something nikkas come out the woodwork with
- aaaaah this ain't krit was here
- aaaah where the samples!?

cats stay shooting down the rappers they want to see win. shyts amazing. Krit can't succeed if his internal fan base is constantly questioning if they should ride out and support.

As a poster has already stated, the bar was set when Kendrick dropped GKMC dropped and J. Cole failed to meet it. This is a good album but this shyt won't be talked about in years to come like classics such as GKMC, The Blueprint and The Chronic are.
