as much as I have thought j.cole is and still is rather meh as an artist, I can't hate on him actually blowing up at all. He seems like he really cares about his craft and most importantly his fans. Even if he shyt don't hit for me I can't do anything but :salute: em

no c00ning from him ever either, great role model for these young nikkas tbh:ehh:

Album feels like what born sinner should have been. Out of all his projects this album resembles the Truly Yours series. IMO that was his best work lyrically, in terms of introspective shyt and storytelling. Very dark, yet soulful. Listen to 03 adolescence and tell me that shyt doesn't have the same vibe of "3 wishes" or "Tears For ODB".

It's a really good album but I can't help to feel looking back he should have saved some of those tracks for this album

Is there time for this to be nominated for the Grammies? Cause this shyt is 2014's GKMC to me. Like..I'm gonna make a playlist with the best of both albums mixed.

But.....and this is weird to admit....

This album only has maybe....3 songs that I don't even think about repeating when I'm playing. With GKMC, its almost half the album. Thats just me though. Most albums I only keep 2-3 songs. So that's a dope ass average. But this shyt.....I can absolutely fukk with every track the long way. I'd bump this shyt no matter who I'm with or where I am. Like, its just been on shuffle and repeat all.

"Terrible reason not to go."

Goddamn. That line right there is so fukking PERFECT. That just played while I'm typing this. I first listened to this album, and thought "St. Tropez is a song I really don't fukk with that much."

But. Yo. I fukk with it heavy now. Its an amazing song. As are most of these. i'm critical of Cole. A lot. I know his albums haven't been great. Born Sinner was good. But not FNL good. This will have near FNL longevity for me. I can feel it. There are at least a few cuts on here that I know I'll never get tired of.

Just bought the album yesterday. Ive been a cole fan since the come up mixtape. This was the type of music i was waiting to hear from him. Imo the first album was trash because that wasnt him. He was trying to get on the radio with a bunch of outdated singles. What saved him was that he built up a core fan base that rode with him.
This album he made the music that was in his heart, and not some radio singles. He's not a lyricist like kendrick, or have the same quality hooks as drake, but he makes music that you can feel :mjcry:
