Holy shyt
Is there time for this to be nominated for the Grammies? Cause this shyt is 2014's GKMC to me. Like..I'm gonna make a playlist with the best of both albums mixed.
But.....and this is weird to admit....
This album only has maybe....3 songs that I don't even think about repeating when I'm playing. With GKMC, its almost half the album. Thats just me though. Most albums I only keep 2-3 songs. So that's a dope ass average. But this shyt.....I can absolutely fukk with every track the long way. I'd bump this shyt no matter who I'm with or where I am. Like, its just been on shuffle and repeat all.
"Terrible reason not to go."
Goddamn. That line right there is so fukking PERFECT. That just played while I'm typing this. I first listened to this album, and thought "St. Tropez is a song I really don't fukk with that much."
But. Yo. I fukk with it heavy now. Its an amazing song. As are most of these. i'm critical of Cole. A lot. I know his albums haven't been great. Born Sinner was good. But not FNL good. This will have near FNL longevity for me. I can feel it. There are at least a few cuts on here that I know I'll never get tired of.
J Cole is to young cats what Nas was to us 30+ heads. I like this album but it's not on some oh my god this is a classic. Had cole come out in the late 90s he would've been Talib Kweli status. Not that there's anything wrong with that. He just wouldn't be mentioned with the likes of Jay and Nas.
Is this shyt really dope? Cole is boring to me, What's the vibe on the album like.
Really? I have to listen to the Intro before I listen to Jan 28th everytime, it serves as like an Interlude to Jan 28th in my eyes, shyt is too good, that saxophoneI gave born sinner a listen early. Cole was all over the place just dumping out a bunch of nonsense for the most part. Compared to this where almost every line has meaning or adds to the song. I was skipping the intro for a minute cause I liked Jan 28th so much but he says some real shyt on there.
Free my dawgs, you're free to go
Block gets hot, the streets is cold
Free to love, to each his own
Free from bills, free from pills
You roll it loud, the speakers blow
Life get hard, you ease your soul
It cleanse ya mind, learn to fly
Then reach the stars, you take your time
And look behind and said, "Look where I came
Look how far I done came"
