It's time to admit Game of Thrones has surpassed Breaking Bad, The Wire and The Sopranos

Kill a character as a season finale...
bring them back from the dead next season.

It'll never be mentioned as a 10/10 show like The Wire on the strength of that nonsense alone.

I'm supposed to care about the safety and well-being of a character I've already seen die and come back to life?
Oh look he's surrounded...
So what.
What are they gonna do, kill him... again. :francis:

Game of Thrones is highly entertaining... but its already written itself below the A+ shows like The Wire and Deadwood... it has two or three more fukk ups before its under the A shows and into the A- shows that are great but are habitual linesteppers like Battlestar Galactica.

fukk outta here with them dumbass reasons

This show has killed more major characters than any show ever and now you wanna act like resurrecting one or two of them is bad

Even when that death/resurrection served a specific narrative purpose to release him from his vows. And a resurrection of which the foundation was laid 3 seasons prior

And you wanna rank it below a show that didnt even have an ending:heh:

everyone knew jon snow wasn't really dead, i even called it exactly saying the red priestess was going to bring him back to life because they foreshadowed the shyt. That's good writing right there boyo

Thats not the only reason.
The poor writting is glaring in spots on GoT... I just didn't go into detail cause I don't want to ruin anybody's show for them.

But, for example... you can't continuously establish how distrustful a culture is of witches... and what they do to witches or those they believe to be witches... then have a female foreigner kill their leaders over and over and perform the exact type of feats that their culture would regard as witchcraft.
When Danyrys set fire to the Khals in their sacred city and emerged from the fire untouched they would of dragged her out of there by her witch white hair, tied her to four horses and ripped her apart. Really tho, they would of killed her when she used witchcraft to get Khal Drogo murked.

There are way more examples I can point out... but if you like the show its better to just be oblivious. Cause at times its like the author is writing fan-fiction of his series instead of the series itself. He's so in love with his star characters they are impervious to danger.
:francis:

But... if you wanna care about a character they killed and brought back to life already, go ahead. To each his own.
Its just at that point there are no stakes for the character.

There are issues with the writing in spots, but you havent even pointed a good one out yet. The Daenerys shyt all makes perfect sense. I dont agree with you at all there.

But to each his own. I have been accused of defending this show too hard and I feel like I could write a long essay about why your above post is not fair. But its all opinions in the end so its all good:salute:

On a related note though...I gotta say its kind of annoying how the legions of internet critics always seem to act like shows are made or broken by a few weak moments of writing. Thats just not true. Writing in itself is only one of many elements that make a show great. It is GOT's weakest aspect, but all their other shyt it GOAT so they get passes.....just like The Wire gets a pass for completely jumping the shark with the McNulty serial killer storyline

I think the reason GoT looks so bad at points is because its normally very good. So when they do something sketchy it stands out.
If you make a high quality product then let the quality dip in spots you can paint yourself into a corner.

The Wire is #1 to me. It works on numerous levels. Its main theme is failed institutions, but works as a cop drama, gangster drama, and social commentary on programs like No Child Left Behind and The War on Drugs.

The 4th season is the best season of television I've ever seen, and think about what preceded it. 3 of the biggest characters of the first 3 seasons are either not in season 4 or have a much diminished role (McNutty as a beat cop). Yet the show got even better.

Sopranos is 2nd to me, then Breaking Bad. GOT is great too, but I have it below those 3.

1. Breaking bad
2. Got

3. The wire (still a great show tho)

Y'all ain't rewatching the wire, nobody got time for that. It was a great show on the first take and probably higher quality but it takes too much investment to watch that show. With GOTs I can watch that shyt while doing work or chores and that shyt would still be lit :wow:

The Wire only gets better with each rewatch. The depth keeps is from ever getting old.
