Its top tier but Utopia was on the same level until it was cancelled. The Leftovers and The Knick are also on either the same level or right there
GoT does a lot of subtle things too that are
....they have specific themes for the families and use different interpolations of those themes depending on the scenes.

Game of Thrones is really good I love it so far probably an 8.5 right now (newby on season 3) but Breaking bad was a roller coaster ride through and through. A lot of drug cartel lifestyle ideals and suburban home life that paralled each other which made the show so much more enticing on top of its heart pulsating cliff hanger
I think yaw buggin but Game of thrones can be a little hard to follow at times with the dialogue and theres some things that are left unanswered (again im a newby so im sure it'll be answered later on as the season goes lol)
For me
1.Breaking Bad
2. The Wire (only because the season with the greeks and the docks was boring as shyt)
3. ? (I can see me putting GoT but this shyt gotta keep up with the last 2 seasons I watched)
yaw caught up in the hype and on top of that, fantasy and mythological shows, that have ideals alike harry potter lord of the rings type shyt, ALWAYS has more hype than regular dramatic shows because of the nerd factor and theres already a huge fantasy fan base behind that genre (me included)

If it's hard to follow, you need to watch GOat History and Lores series. They have one for each season and they are available on YouTube.
It gives a you info you need and the context to better appreciate the show.
The GOT world is so big, rich and intricate, it's not even fair to compare these other shows.

exactly man. The thing is, I get MAD into it, at times im watching episodes and reading through wiki pages of family trees and how certain characters are connected
I like Thrones but it's not innovative enough to be considered a GOAT TV show. What do you get when you mix good source material, dragons, magic, knights, antiquity, duels, battles, t*ts, c*nt, and family feuds into a pot and put enough money and smart film makers behind the trigger? You'll get a showthat's dope whist being broadly appealing enough that everyone will watch and enjoy it. But it's not brought TV making forward as a whole:
-Wire: Turned the great american novel into a TV show, you already know.
-Sopranos: No show has been this character driven, ever. Mad Men's a contender but Matthew Weiner's an ex-sopranos writer anyway. At the end of season 6 most of the characters' are back where they started. That's real-life.
-Breaking Bad: Did the most to develop the language of television. Best shot show ever. The way they paced and developed it, and how they visually teased out story-telling is untouchable.
That said, Deadwood season 1 is the best 11 hour movie of all time
