Your mother is an outlier

I don’t believe so. I’ve seen older women and men enjoy trends that are popular, even participating in them… despite growing up in a another era.

I’d like to hear your perspective. I just refuse to believe people older than 30 are just flabby and out of touch:

Sure..If you can tell me some major things that nikkas who grew up in the crack era have with nikkas that grew up on social media.....

my bad if my statement was worded terribly. You are right. obviously if I place three people from three different eras in one room, they will be major differences in mindsets.

my point was going into the future with the rise of technology that generations will lose their identity little by little due to the Internet.

:jbhmm:

Now this I do agree with wholehearedly...... and I don't think this will be a good thing......non identities will make it easier to conform to mass opinions..... opinions that will have been force fed to you more than likely

I haven’t seen this only the opposite
I don’t know anyone above 40 on tiktok

And if they do the dances they often come across as try hards

the internet isn’t going to bridge the gap

some people were hardwired a certain way

also factor that outside of the west people are even more out of touch with these trends even with the net because of localisation

This. We didn't have technology early in our lives. But it took over when we were coming of age.

We actually have the best of both worlds, an appreciation for tech and we're grounded because we remember life before modern technology.
Perfect description. I remember being outside and then I remember when the internet took over.

We started ALL this gangsta shyt. Even the idea of tryna have a cool sounding Gen name.

There haen't been more than one generation after us (that's grown).

So call it what you will.

So much this. I forever preaching to my son the possibilities he have outside of the computer. Hell, even when I had a SNES during his age, I played that shyt like 2 hours a day, sometimes just 1 and spent most of my time watching TV, going to the library, sitting on the porch, and playing with my action figures. You know like a imagination and shyt.

Us and Gen Z are not the fukking same

Everything became inherently different around 2008-2010, basically the internet and social media began to take over. Smartphones weren’t really mass market thing till 2011.

I’d say that that was the start of a “new generation” after millennials.

in another 10-15 years when globalization and batteries take over the kids now will be grown debating the same.
