I think the studios might be more looking into how to cut out the middle man and go direct to consumer. Universal has Comcast which has Peacock. Warner has AT&T which has HBO Max. Disney has Disney+. Paramount has CBSViacom who has Paramount+.

But they'll NEVER make back money on big budget blockbusters on streaming alone.

Those you named aside that still leaves Netflix, Amazon, and Apple as potential players.

Or even some dark horse.

Bottom line is I know it's risky but I'm more betting on the theater industry not dying completely. Low risk & high reward.

You know all those production companies you see before the movie starts also paid for the movies. Like Legendary.

The signed contracts anticipating theater releases and money.

Even Joker was co-financed.

If this was just WB taking a risk with it’s own money I wouldn’t say a word.

I am aware of those production companies and i’d assume those companies are being properly compensated or those companies would sue.

AMC got their fucckin nerve to bytch at WB. Which major studio stuck their neck out by attempting to reignite the theater experience in the 1st place? WB TRIED with Tenet to give theaters a fighting chance. Disney wasn't doing that, they wanted to go straight to streaming with that bullshyt Mulan film. AMC had to make a compromise deal with Universal because they were the FIRST to say "fukk the theaters) initially. Sony ain't did shyt. Paramount ain't did shyt. WB were the ONLY studio that tried.

And now AMC crying foul even though WB didn't totally abandon them but seen the writing on the wall so they're going for self. NONE OF THE STUDIOS are fucckin with movie theaters right now. They're not in any position to complain shyt and start figuring out how to adapt and adjust.

I don’t know if this has been asked already as I haven’t read the entire thread but won’t online pirating affect them in a huge way? I mean Netflix shows are put on pirate sites the same day they are on Netflix.

people pay for convenience.. streaming is way more convenient then piracy is for most people

it's like steam/gmg. yeah pc players can pirate.. but steam is cheap and convenient so there really ain't much of a point

Movie studios
Tv manufacturers (possibly Sony)

corner the market

find a way to actually broadcast in 4k/8k & charge extra

And it doesn't hurt Netflix at all. They have 150 million subscribers and a market cap bigger than Disney :manny: So the answer to your question is a resounding NO it will not affect them. Families aren't broke boys.
Netflix doesn't have a market cap bigger than Disney.

Disney is $279 billion Netflix is $220 billion. Both are about at 52 week highs. When it comes to future prospects I would expect in 10 years Disney will be worth far more than Netflix. Disney even now in a pandemic that has depressed them has positive free cash flow. Netflix burns billions a quarter and is probably gonna reach saturation much sooner soon when it comes to subs than Disney.

If I could own one of those 2 companies today outright I'm taking Disney without question.

They got to do something. Movie theaters are not really viable at the moment with this pandemic.

Gotta make money somehow
